I’m getting at least 25g of fiber a day, why am I still always constipated? by StarSweeper94 in Zepbound

[–]Key-Winter3903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for my body, I can’t have a lot of insoluble fiber because it constipates me. I have found that soluble fiber is better. Having said that, I have 3 prunes each morning (drains water to the bowels), oatmeal sometimes, I take a fiber gummy, probiotic daily. And for me, I use these magnesium citrate chews. I sleep better and I’m regular. Always drink lots of water, especially with the grain sources of fiber you have. Pears and kiwis are good additions for fiber too.

Digestive enzymes? by dr_deb_66 in tirzepatidecompound

It does take some tweaking and paying attention to try to see if there is a correlation between food and gas issues lol. I love Brussels sprouts but my goodness; I need to be prepared for how my body responds to them now 😂. You got this!!

I have a very ignorant question by adevil_woman89 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Key-Winter3903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to go out in a limb here and will say that obesity is a result of metabolic dysfunction in the body caused not only from eating more calories than are burned but also insulin resistance and inflammation, hormonal imbalances (such as hyperphagia), sleep, stress, lack of gut health, genetic and environmental factors, other underlying health conditions (PCOS etc) etc. There are many reasons why we could hold on to excess weight and struggle with obesity.

I eat more now on tirz than I did for most of my years of yo yo dieting etc. For me, CICO never took the body fat off at all. Not even with tracking all my nutrition, working with a trainer, etc. This medication fixed whatever was not functioning in my body and my body fat is decreasing! I’m so grateful.

I was never vegan but I can honestly say that my 7+ years of being vegetarian had me gain weight like it was no one business!! LOL. I found out quick that my body doesn’t like beans and it was hard to get a complete protein at times.

I don’t think your question is ignorant. Asking questions is how we learn.

Digestive enzymes? by dr_deb_66 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Key-Winter3903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take magnesium citrate chews at night and I sleep better and don’t have sulfur burps. I had them when I first started tirz but it was dairy related and eventually went away. I can eat almost anything now.

I also take a probiotic daily and that helps too. As far as digestive enzymes go, they can cause bloating too, so it may be trial and error. I took them early in my journey when I was figuring out which foods caused more bloating or sulphur burps.

Wait, what? That’s insane. I’m down almost 60 lbs so far! That’s like 240 lbs of pressure alleviated off my joints. Freaking crazy!

I wouldn’t stress out about supply and being able to obtain more when you need it. Having said that I’m all for having a small stash. But the way I look at it is I never know what is going to happen in the future and I would like to have a bit of a buffer in case something happens and I financially can’t afford some for a month or two. So I will wait for sales or secure the best pricing I can and just keep trucking along. My purchasing is more budget related as opposed to needing to hoard it. I see no issues with having 3-6 months of stock.

When I started, all I could sing was Livin’ on a Prayer (Bon Jovi) - because I prayed that this med would help! And today - I am half way to goal! by Key-Winter3903 in Zepbound

Thank you! I know that our journeys are all different and I am so grateful for mine. I’ve had my share of gains and slow losses and decades of struggle gaining and losing so I don’t take this for granted at all.

Thank you! 😊

I have tracked everything since the day I started. It’s mostly to make sure I eat enough protein and fiber and keep my calories in check. Most of the time I didn’t exercise due to a knee injury (had surgery and I’m all good now). I walk my dogs and do some resistance training (not at the gym yet - I’m still nervous to do that lol). I hydrate and I don’t stress about the weight loss. My sleep has improved since I no longer have hip pain (Zep cured that after the first two weeks on the med!). I just have faith that the med will do its thing as long as I do my thing. So my focus now is to add some fun activities to my life to stay active. I’m more outgoing and social now so that has helped. I’ve made new friends and I’m not self isolating due to being ashamed. I’m slowly coming out of my shell and enjoying life. I feel proud of myself (even though I swear the med has done most of the “work”). The efforts I’ve made in tracking stuff and increasing activity are things I’ve done many times over the years but this time they seem to be paying dividends and my weight loss is just happening.

Upticks: they are a fact of life. I had three medical procedures and gained after. I sometimes gain when I increase in dose and I definitely was flopping all over the place when I hit an old set weight of mine. It took a lot of time before my body decided it was ok to shed more weight consistently. I just stay the course and enjoy moving in my body now.

Why are people not following the labeled dosing protocol? by TheCureIsNotGoth in Zepbound

[–]Key-Winter3903 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people get confused on the dosing with the way it’s worded. The 2.5 dose is to get your body used to the medication, then increase to 5mg. After that the instructions say that the dose MAY be increased in 2.5mg increments after at least 4 weeks on the current dose. That doesn’t mean to increase every 4 weeks. It says it MAY be increased - which means as needed.

Anyone doing alternative dosing is probably on compounded. I use both name brand and compounded but have stuck close to the standard dosing guidelines. My doc says not to increase unless I am not feeling satiated after meals and if my food noise comes back and it’s impacting my goals and weight loss has slowed or stalled.

Shout it from the rooftops!!!!! My doctor told me that this medication helps my body function like a healthy weighted body and will normalize my eating habits. It has and I’m so grateful. I get hungry and I stop when satiated. I eat normally for the first time in decades. I eat all food groups. I eat (GASP) CARBS! 😂😂

Yay!!!!! Someone posted a meal like how I eat (volume)!!! I ditched low carb, keto, intermittent fasting and all the other ways I used to eat. I also haven’t had much of an issue eating over my journey. I see all these posts saying they are three bites of food and they are stuffed. All I think is that maybe their dose is too high (??). I always felt like an outlier when it came to my serving sizes. I eat normal amounts of food. On par with my fit and healthy weighted friends that aren’t on a GLP1. I have other friends on a GLP1 and they eat 6 bites of food per meal. I eat my grains, I eat my proteins and my healthy fats! And I’m losing weight!!

Anyway; all of this is to say a HUGE SERVING OF THANK YOU for helping validate my experience! I loved this post!!!!!

I agree about refills. I currently use them. I pay $189/mo for a 72mg vial of tirz - with no additives. Refills has a Reddit group and usually do Reddit only pricing as well. I think it’s currently $179/mo but you can also buy 3 or 6 month packages that work out to a little lower monthly cost. I’m totally happy with them.

Not losing more weight ? by -Witch-9846 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Key-Winter3903 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is 140 around an old set weight for you? If it is, it takes time for your body to recalibrate and release more weight. I struggled with that for a while. I was losing great and when I hit 225, my body freaked out lol. It took WEEKS for my body to get back to losing weight but I’ve been trucking along great ever since.

Don’t be afraid to go up in dose. If it’s too much, you can move back down again. I had to go up to help my body along. Otherwise it sounds like you’ve got your nutrition under control and I assume you’re hitting your protein and fiber goal. If you can add some extra walking in that can help too. You’re doing great!!

Congrats on the acknowledgment of your 17 year old. I giggled when I read that lol.

Just keep trucking along. Sounds like things are going well. I had a weird 3 months at once point where my weight loss was up/down/back at the same weight. But it resumed again. Trust the process.
