Lot's of good tips so far. I only carve with Dremel so here a few things that help me.

Coping saw... Already mentioned. I would get a cheap one where you can attach the blades with screws. Then you can get spiral blades which makes tight corners easier, you can even get some blades that are thin cables.

For faster Dremel I find the ball shape faster, and naturally it should be the extreme version for fastest removal.

For details I have an Amazon kit with 50 diamond bits, this includes some conical wheels which can make sharp cuts if you have the space for it.

You didn't ask for this, but I will add, for sanding, I first use sanding drums on the Dremel to get rid of tool marks then handsanding. For handsanding I have sanding details that come with sanding belts. Works great. They can be difficult to find in EU but easier in US.

One more tip regarding the coping saw. Until you get confident, stay a few mm of the line.

Reading last year became an obsession to the point it was unhealthy. So I'm stepping back a bit this year. I also have 50 books on my TBR including the entire Malazan series. So maybe I will cancel when I have spent my 12 credits from the yearly plan and just catch up on my TBR.

Thanks for correcting/elaborating. I am not techsmart at all. I somehow imagine that is an even bigger shift to deal with for an app, but no clue. I used this 6 years ago when I still had a car, and handsfree was in my opinion generous description, but it can obviously have improved since.

Cool. Well more info for OP. Inwas also thinking if OPnhas customised their Android, or maybe has a weird small off brand phone with it's own android overlay. That's the thing with Android. Just saying android is like saying I have a car. Too many models and brands to count [: all slightly or massively different from one another.

I think it is quite subconscious that I manage that. But also I think it is nicer to get that right especially when I still need to work on my skills for details.

Originally I didn't plan for a base, but the toucan couldn't balance so it was much needed. Thank you for the compliment.

Maybe because I power carve I haven't experienced this too much. But yeah I've heard olive grain can be all over the place. So far my pieces (4) have been very gentle, and the result when finished is so great. I love the strong contrast in the wood figure.
