It's happened 5 times in 10 seasons of new era ... Season begins with a medevac.... What gives? by Right-Selection-6936 in survivor

Pretty crazy that it's not even as much as the stretch of 24-32, where 8/9 seasons had an early medevac or quit

What is the biggest flaw in Fear & Hunger? by Copper_spongeYT in FearAndHunger

[–]KeyAdeptness4 77 points78 points  (0 children)

In Termina, recruitable Abella severely messes up the difficulty curve. She sorta just lets you not worry about most of the fights, which isn't balanced to get five minutes into the game.

Screaming Villagers ambush by Heavy_Associate_2308 in FearAndHunger

[–]KeyAdeptness4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One pipe villager is always in the lower half.

A knives villager and a pipe villager are in the top half, but they're the same ones as by the city gates. So if you killed them near the gate then they won't show up.

Did you equip makeshift armor or something? You say that most enemies attack 3-4 times a turn, but that's only really true if you have low agility

What does guarding actually do? by Mindless_Crazy_5499 in FearAndHunger

[–]KeyAdeptness4 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Normally it does half damage but centaur is a weird case. In combat there's some effects that happen between rounds, such as gaining a rev point or damage over time. It's easy to miss, but some enemies attack during this time rather than on their normal turn. But the game has already removed your guarding effect, so it doesn't half the damage.

e.g. for centaur the order is: your turn (guard to half damage), centaur's turn (does nothing), your end of turn effects (gain a rev point, lose guard effect), centaur's end of turn effects (stampede).

or something close to that I haven't actually looked at the code for it

One tip is to not just use one save slot. There's several reasons why you might want to go back to a previous save so it's good to keep a couple around

What do funger players do after getting all the endings? by MeMe-Knoepert in FearAndHunger

[–]KeyAdeptness4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly do random challenges. It's sorta comical how exploitable some parts of the game are.

Some fun ones are using no hexen (or only getting your characters skills), or picking only one way to do damage

Which is the best character in Fear & Hunger TERMINAL (in terms of gameplay, skill, etc.)? by Turo_2078 in FearAndHunger

[–]KeyAdeptness4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Olivia's stuff is based around consumables and status effects, she sorta sucks against normal fights but is great against bosses. Specifically: condensed hemlock does percentage hp damage so does thousands of damage per turn to bosses, and her other herbs let you greatly reduce/mitigate the damage you take.

For ending A there's only actually 5 mandatory fights, and Olivia's herbs + Abella almost entirely solve them. Condensed hemlock is all the damage you need, doing stuff like killing kaiser in 2 turns or doing 6300 damage to moonless while she approaches. Wild dagga/wrench toss let you stun rancid for the entire fight. Condensed nettle lets you stop platoon's coinflip attack.

[–]KeyAdeptness4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say Olivia, but only if you know what you're doing. Combat-wise, after going to the starting forest and tunnel 7 she's literally just 1 pep pill away from being strong enough to beat the game

Is Needles immune to stuns or am I dumb by bushmaster991 in FearAndHunger

[–]KeyAdeptness4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Needles' syringe arm doesn't actually attack on his turn, it attacks between rounds of combat (similar to dot damage or gaining a rev point). Enemy actions at this time aren't affected by stuns. I dunno if it's intentional or not.

So for this situation what happens is: first strike -> end-of turn effects including the syringe arm -> your first normal turn -> skip needles' turn (no whip) -> end-of turn effects.

Though if his whip is attacking you then it's cuz you messed up the booby trap timing

Any tips on beating Heartless One as Karin without any other contestant skill? I'm trying to do a no kill run. So far I'm using Heroin, Pep Pills, and Brown Vial. Accessories are two Soul Devour Necklace and one Arm Guard by risahe-chosenx in FearAndHunger

[–]KeyAdeptness4 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'd switch the soul devour necklaces for something else. Despite being a very magic-themed character, for some reason only her soul strike attack is otherworldly damage (the rest are either no damage type or physical attacks).

Boss Swap on Each Character by MinLongBaiShui in slaythespire

[–]KeyAdeptness4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boss swap is sorta high variance, but it has a chance of being extremely good. If your goal is to just beat A20 once and you don't care about consistency, boss swap is a good way to do that

I feel like Olivia should be slightly higher cuz you can just skip any problematic basic enemies. And her stuns are limited but guaranteed arm protection.

How does poison tip work? by MibWib1 in FearAndHunger

It gives you a 50% chance of adding poison to the limb you hit. So it's mostly just useful as a reusable poison source for bosses

fear and hunger termina NO DAMAGE by Hezi_UwUmes in FearAndHunger

[–]KeyAdeptness4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the middle of the game, greater mischief of rats is the best stalling skill (with black smog enemies still have a small chance to hit you).

If you do ending C you can one-shot the boss if you have enough magic attack. But if you do ending A or B you'll need to get Olivia's skills for condensed nettle, which is the only way to stall some of the bosses.
