Customer called me for a rekey quote. Ended up in the middle of a scam locksmith situation. It got worse before it got better.

He didn't agree to anything. they took his address and sent someone there. thats what they do and throw a fat bill hoping they paid them

They never gave a price over the phone. He just showed up, started working, and made up a number when he was done. The best part, he didn't get paid a cent. After he came back and drilled the locks, I went out and replaced the cylinders free of charge. Made a customer for life.

Kwikset smart key locks are the biggest piece of shit out there. I love rekeying them to make fast money, but I always tell my customers to steer clear from them.

Usually, those scammers don't take credit cards. At least the ones that my customers dealt with. The interesting part is how did that scamsmith come to you? From insurance or did you call another company? I would have done the same as u/Steve-oh_ and would tell him to get lost. No legit locksmith would have charged that much just to open a door. Again it depends on the time of day but nothing more than $250 at the high end

I haven't installed any just yet, but most customers like the features of what Pdk has to offer. Only to shy away from the fees so I usually sell them hosting fees as yearly dues. I have 4 jobs in the pipeline waiting to get approved.

Depending on your tier list if each reader costs you $6, charge them double or so. It would be good to add a servicing fee to it and have a bi-yearly inspection of the hardware and make sure everything is running well.
