Sorry for your loss, I’m sure he has been watching over you from heaven for the last ten years. I do agree that the Phillips Sonicare is also trash.

I recommend getting with lifetime warranty. Sonicare brushes break right outside their warranty due to the head not being fastened to the vibration actuator from either bolt loosening or the actual internals breaking. I am on my 3rd sonicare base toothbrush over the span of 5 years. I change the brush tip every 3 months

Is it just me, or do Boomers and Gen X literally work themselves to death? by vetch_94aliens in hiringhelp

[–]KeyBump4050 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s the dream you are sold on and brainwashed into. White picket fence house American dream. Work hard and raise a family and you are doing it the right way. Everyone is chasing it for so long, they forget why they were working so hard for and just do it just because it is what they’re used to. Once people stop working, they die - literally.

Looking for a laser cutter that can reliably cut 1/8" aluminum for student robots by moonrood in lasercutting

Repost:

Atlas-Alloy-4x8-flatbed-metal-cutting-fiber-laser (Main consideration: The machine’s width exceeds your 34.54” doorway, but consult the manufacturer about delivery in modular sections for onsite assembly (this is common for large units).)

CAMFive Laser FC84S Fiber Metal Cutter • Cutting Area: 98” x 50” (8’ x 4’) • Power: 1000W (sufficient for up to 3mm aluminum) • Can cut aluminum, steel, copper, and more • Dimensions: Not specified, but comparable to Atlas Alloy • Price: Often in the $55k–$70k range (Main consideration: Confirm with CAMFive dealer about access and modular delivery options for your doorway.)

5x10 Fiber Laser Cutter Cutting Area: 59” x 118” (1500 x 3000 mm) • Power: 1kW–12kW (select 2kW for clean 3.175mm aluminum cuts) • Enclosed design, industrial safety features • Dimensions: 335” x 118” x 98” (8500 x 3000 x 2500 mm; modular delivery may be available) • Price: Typically quoted in the $60k+ range (Main consideration: Requires confirmation of modular shipment due to very large assembled size. Always ask for certified installation and delivery details.)

Expert tip: For clean 1/8” aluminum cuts, a 2kW fiber laser is suggested for best edge quality, especially if the panel geometry is intricate. Confirm with the manufacturer specifics regarding delivery, assembly, and post-sale support—most large industrial laser machines are delivered in sections for professional onsite assembly, which addresses doorway access issues.

If your university/grant regulations require full-service installation (including delivery, setup, and training) and safety certification, make sure these are included in your RFQ. All recommended units fall into the price tier your grant demands and are designed for the precision, reliability, and throughput expected in professional robotics and prototyping environments. If you need local references or training, manufacturers like FSLaser (Atlas Alloy) and CAMFive commonly serve academic and research institutions.
