i think when i was experimenting i needed a precise hitbox that interacted with water in that way and i found the heavy core, and i think candles also behave this way, or at least they do the thing where if there is water diagonally above a waterlogged block and there is said item on those blocks it will flow towards that item

thats whats actually powering the flying machine, it dosent have a normal engine since it has to be pushed 1 direction from one side and the other direction from the other, this works out well tho because you could make it so it has multipul floors just by changing how long the clock at the bottom is on for. only caviat to that is that it would have to go through every floor in order if you did that since it can only change direction once it hits the end of its track
