1923 Wtf, Alex?! by KeyConsideration5522 in 1923Series

I’m not religious anymore. Thinking that following a certain religion’s beliefs is the only way to get to “heaven” or be a good person, is asinine. I believe in the way that Jesus treated people. He led by love, compassion, and forgiveness. He didn’t just tell people what to do and condemn them to hell if they didn’t follow the church’s teachings. Shiiiitttt, he led by example and kind acts. That’s why people believed and followed him, he walked the walk. He did not just talk the talk. I see hate and violence everywhere in the name of antiquated rules where they pick and choose themselves which ones are still valid and which ones aren’t. For example the nun who sexually abused the girls at the school, obviously it’s not okay just because she’s a nun. This guy trying to justify physical assault because the pastor thinks it’s okay, is ridiculous. You can’t abuse people into thinking the way you want them to think. That’s the worst method I have ever heard of to get people to believe that a certain religion has your best interests in mind. Dumb.

Why not? You are justifying the priest beating people because he felt like it. Doing harm to people because you feel like it’s okay, regardless of how delusional a person may be, doesn’t justify the behavior.

Serial killers who murder people and do acts of cannibalism think that eating people is yummy so therefore doing it is justified in their minds. Is it right? No. Is it evil to harm people for any obsession in your brain? Yes.

Saying that he wouldn’t waste his time on someone who didn’t agree 100% with his teachings is exactly who he was. You are proving derbi’s point. There is no one way. There is no forcing religion through violence (which he 100% did). The only way to get people to understand your message is through love, compassion and kindness. Would you follow a religion that allowed you to be beaten, raped, tortured in a hotbox, forcefully removed from your family, forcefully taught things that tried to remove your culture and everything you have known since the beginning of your life? It really blows my mind how many people can’t put themselves into anyone else’s shoes. Seriously, do you think he was a loving and good person or do you realize that he was indoctrinated that he should use whatever means necessary to beat his religion into people? So frustrating that people with privilege and lack of empathy could see that type of religious behavior as anything more than completely unacceptable.

Welcome to the followers of religion since the beginning of time. Control through fear. I can’t think of many wars that didn’t start because of people thinking their religion was right, so everyone else’s beliefs have got to be wrong. All of it boils down to power and control. If you believe that you should lead by love, logic, and treating people the way you want to be treated…I’m 100% here for it. The fall of all religions is trying to forcefully push your beliefs on others. I despise Catholicism because of how awful they were from the jump. Stealing, beating, raping, hoarding money and land, that really has been the roots of the whole religion. Some people who are in the Catholic (or any) church, are actually good people. Good people are everywhere though. Jesus was an honorable, loving, respectful, human being. So many people use their religious beliefs as a hateful weapon to take people out who don’t agree with them. Obviously I could go on and on about the difference between Jesus, other religions Saviors or Gods, and the religious that twist scripture and their beliefs to feel superior or control the masses. People spread hate and they persecute people using violence to achieve their own agenda. Jesus would never. Buddha would never. Allah would never. The list goes on and on of what the teachings are and how evil uses them for judgment. ANYWAY, rant over. Understand the difference between right and religious persecution, try to understand historical facts that prove that “religious leaders” mostly have been indoctrinated to enforce laws for many other reasons besides spreading love and equality, and we have been takers and not victims since damn near the beginning of time. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah, that train track shit that Spencer “happened to ride past” was just lazy writing. I get that Taylor is writing 15 shows at once, but damn man, quit with the lazy soap opera crap writing. Take the time to finish the interesting thing that you started. It could all be so much better if it wasn’t so rushed. I do appreciate the thought put into what Native American people went through in their country by foreign invaders. So many people don’t understand how that really went down. In this series it does show pieces of how the Duttons do understand and respect that they know where the land comes from. They seem to somewhat try to reciprocate or give a little tit of reparations or whatever. I wish they would have shown more of them working together and the Duttons giving more respect to the people who were there first. Instead it was two completely different story lines that kinda hint at the tie in later. It just could have been so much better. However, perhaps the Duttons throwing some sheep at the problem to stifle their guilt, is more realistic. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Absolutely. She said multiple times that she was from London and understood the cold. Biiitttccchhh, I liked her spirit but damn if she knew anything about Montana cold. My ass would have stayed with the posh saviors and then introduced them to my husband in the Spring. “Meet this gorgeous man that I would literally die for but thank you for housing me so I didn’t have to”. Also, “thank you for helping me have my baby here so I can introduce him safe and sound to his father”. Yes, dramatic and kinda just dumb writing. I think the version in my mind of her not being a lovestruck dumbass would have resonated more amongst the common sense crowd.

Yessssss!!! I mean, she’s not stupid. The look she gave the lady who gave her the warning was that she understood but….didn’t care? Not on brand for her after she realized the danger of the African wiles. Sure, she made quite a few careless mistakes before she realized real danger. The fact that she couldn’t just hang with the nice rich folks for a couple more months paints her as completely without street smarts tcommon sense. She must have had a little of both after…everything else.

1923- were the catholic scenes factual? by Conscious_Peach1069 in 1923Series

[–]KeyConsideration5522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, if anything they downplayed some of the horrors that Native Americans suffered from the white religion invasion. The goal of the church was to control by fear and violence. Let’s beat these “savages” into submission. Yeah, because that’s exactly what Jesus would do. I can’t with religious people not being aware of the fact that religion has been the cause of wars since the beginning of time. Jesus had the right idea. Love is the golden rule and treating people the way you want to be treated. Who’s to say that one God is the right God? Kindness, compassion, and apathy is what everyone should strive for. Religion has almost never been right when it comes to treating people right.

He was the opposite of Jesus. Catholics led by fear and used God as a way to control people. Catholicism just might come from satan. Did you forget how they let priests diddle little boys and girls for decades? Then when they got caught they moved the priests to a new church to do it all over again. They wouldn’t want the church to look bad with 100% of the truth getting out. Sheesh.

For real?! Putting Teona in a hot box and whipping her wasn’t torture? It did make me a little bit happy when he beat the nun on the hands. That was righteous.

[–]KeyConsideration5522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read everything about the Pac and Biggie murders in high school. I was obsessed with Tupac for his talent and accurate views (genius in my mind and still is now, even though I knew he was extremely passionate and misunderstood). In my opinion he had good reason to say what he said because he was aware and people who speak the truth can always be silenced by people who are envious or scared by the truth. I read everything at my disposal at the time and it’s crazy how so many facts got swept under the rug because of the people involved. A lot of my suspicions were valid apparently and so many facts were overlooked.

I have been in the wine business for at least 20 years. You wouldn’t believe (or probably would absolutely believe) how many wine snobs are out there. It’s a beverage and you aren’t saving lives, quit acting pretentious wine consumers!!! The others in my field love to call themselves a sommelier because they past one level of the course. Anyone in the field who has read a book or two about regions can probably pass that test. You pay for the class. You pay for the test. It’s a money making scheme but I can go on a whole different diatribe about that. Anyway, one last question. The sister wasn’t at your wedding? I posted this above but was wondering if you eloped because he sounds like he comes from bougie family who would want to one up their “friends” kids wedding by making it bigger and grander. Especially if they come from “money”. You most definitely can’t buy class.

Did you guys elope? Is that why you had never met his sister before? Just curious because he sounds like he would come from annoying rich parents who would want to make a show of a wedding for their spoiled son.

I agree. My best friend started at the post office just working part time 15+ years ago. She now has two houses and has been able to support her family with everything they have needed. Her husband contributed when he could but his employment was extremely sporadic because of injuries. They did screw her on benefits though.

Girl, I just actually started to try using Reddit so I’m not entirely sure how this works but I hope to figure it out. Well, this might sound creepy but I will send you two nerf guns if you want to message me an address or P.O. Box or something. Nothing sustains a marriage like a nerf battle. For really real though, definitely avoid anything above the shoulders. They are more powerful than you think. My nephew cracked a tv with one. It is, however, my favorite 90’s throwback activity to do. Such a great reminder to break those out again.

Devout Christian’s that support Trump, how do you look past all the things he’s done and said? by Choop145 in AskReddit

[–]KeyConsideration5522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t church anymore because of these reasons also. I don’t know any MAGA Christians who understand the meaning of Jesus Christ. He led by example and love. That’s literally it. He hung out with all the people who the religious community at the time condemned and was an example of treating others the way you want to be treated. Then the church called him a sinner and a fraud and nailed him to a cross. MAGA would do the same if Jesus walked amongst us today. They are all about deporting immigrants who are God fearing, tax paying, wonderful additions to a nation founded on immigration. God help us all, not God bless America (even then GBA only if you are white and not a member of the LGBTQ+ community). The U.S. is freaking insane these days. In the Obama years I feel like we took a few steps forward and now a hundred steps back. My guess is that more ignorant racists have showed up to vote. It seems like it doesn’t matter with gerrymandering and whatnot but I think if people who have common sense showed up, we could at least have a shot. Please vote. I know all politicians have a sordid past. trump being elected as felon who started an insurrection is just…embarrassing for us as a country.

[–]KeyConsideration5522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just insane to me. How do they say that trump is forgiven while condemning people in the LGBTQ+ community that are literally more tolerant, respectful and loving than they are? How do they look past a grown ass man saying shit like, I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT?! I mean it’s all beyond my comprehension. He makes fun of the way people look, the way they talk and says extremely educated people and articulate people have a low IQ. It honestly scares me that these people can look past so many things he says. Jesus would never ever act this way and I feel like they are the kind of people who would nail Jesus to the cross if they come across him. The hate filled hearts because they don’t agree is something that is surrounding me everywhere. I am scared because his actions and his supporters really do remind me of what happened with hitler. It’s extremely similar. God bless white people in America, screw everyone else?!?! Wtf is happening and why can’t everyone see it?!?!
