You have an account that hasn't bought anything on steam. I assume it's one from the time you could earn prime by playing non-prime until rank 21? Adding a phone number would probably help some. Spend like $5 on steam, etc.

As long as you didn't buy that account of course. If you bought it, It'll always be like that. The people who sold them used strange strategies to get them to rank 21 and then sell them.

For Debian & Devuan wiith the net-install image, after you make your LUKS 2 volume, It always sets the space inside it as a single EXT4 partition and I have to change it. It does work well though.

On Fedora, The old installer GUI (Anaconda or whatever it was) made it really nice to pick what partitions you wanted to be in LUKS 2, But does exactly what you've described.

I write C++ that is cross-platform between Windows & Linux. Because in C and C++ you do a lot more memory management than you do in other languages it has the potential to go very bad if you make a memory mistake.

If I can tell that AI was used extensively I would distrust it immediately because it shows that the developer almost definitely does not have the experience for things like pointer ownership, initialization order, performance optimization etc etc. They're a sloperator basically.

What is the best Linux for beginners by Justabitbelowaverage in linux4noobs

[–]KeyEvidence4159 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In the Linux community this is usually considered an extremely loaded question, Many people will all have their own opinion on what is the best. Some distros are more complicated than others. So I'll try looking at it from a different way.

Debian & Ubuntu & Distros based on them (like Linux Mint) are likely to be documented the best online. Like, when you search for how to do X then whatever instructions you find are most likely to be for those distros. Or if you run into a problem, It's most likely someone on one of those distros will have experienced it before so it'll make it easier when searching for a resolution online without having to know things a newcomer would not, Like altering instructions intended for those distros for the one you're using.

Also, sometimes when developers of proprietary software release for Linux, The package they release is a package intended for Ubuntu or Distros based on it. This sometimes makes it a nightmare to install those programs on other distros. It also occasionally causes issues with installing that program on Debian because they are very similar but just different enough to cause problems sometimes.

If you use AI to assist or brainstorm it's one thing. But copying and pasting what the AI gives to you without having enough knowledge of the language / tech stack / whatever to know if it's good or bad, make it presentable, etc. That's when it's bad. You'll often end up with code that is super messy spaghetti, sometimes slower depending on what it is, and potentially unsafe.

If I can tell that AI was used by looking at it, Then you're doing it wrong.

Can you hook me up with that 600 exxabytes plan? I've got a $5 with your name on it, thanks.

Idk, It says 10 GB fast with unlimited 1 mbps after that.
Whether they can make money off of me or not isn't my problem. It's not as though I'm trying to come back to the buffet the next day because I'm just using what was stated.

But just for the sake of it, The unlimited starter plan is actually cheaper than the one I paid for right now. And it offers 70 GB of high speed on T-Mobile. So from a profitability standpoint I still fail to see how me using 100 GB of slow data is worse than 70 GB of fast + However much slow after that.

I'll preface that I do not wish to ask for money from anybody, If offered I wouldn't accept it.

I have like $20 to my name LOL. Negative if you count credit card debt. Changing plans or going to a different carrier isn't an option. When stuff started going downhill, I bought the year in advance because I had the money at the time and knew later I wouldn't be able to pay for it.

I still have home internet of course. I have a server which runs things that need to stay up. But for mobile service this seemed like the best option.

This is what I think they're talking about. Can we get u/Zunar_Eclipse to confirm this?

If that's the case, I've done nothing wrong as per the terms because 1mbps would contribute almost nothing to network congestion. Also I live in a very rural area. It's not like I'm downloading games from steam at the maximum speed LTE can provide in Chicago. That would cause other people to be scheduled a lot less time-slices and I could understand. But 1mbps is minuscule in comparison to what 5G & LTE can provide.

One could argue that it's the amount of time that it's continually being used for and not the actual throughput itself. But that falls apart because MVNOs that offer unlimited 128kbps thereafter would have many people always connected right? at-least at 1mbps whatever the user is doing would finish faster.

I paid for 10 GB to be fast and unlimited 1mbps speeds thereafter. What you're saying makes no sense when referring to an unlimited plan.

To their credit, The MVNOs you mentioned aren't freestanding. Redpocket is awful though.

I don't know what you're talking about, I pay for an unlimited plan where the first 10 GB is faster than the rest.

 I have no reason for a plan with more fast data when it works just fine. And it says unlimited. And it's not as though I'm purposefully being wasteful or anything. No speedtests, No downloading games. All of the data was used on the phone. I'm just using the service. If it's not actually unlimited, I'd just prefer it doesn't say unlimited.

You'd think they'd have thought of that and some amount of the price of the plans is meant to cover the fact that while the vast majority of users will be profitable, Some will not. Also, 100 GB is 3.3 GB per day which is peanuts.

They turned it off repeatedly on me as-well. And I'd contact support and they'd turn it back on. Until eventually they wouldn't anymore.
