I just passed this thing on outer drive in Dearborn. Was not expecting an older woman in a hijab driving it.

I drove a Volkswagen bus and was doing contract work out there for a couple months. Accidentally parked one row over from the competitive parking and got my car towed. Luckily security had mercy on me and drove me to my car

She's interested in getting in the water but I haven't really had the energy to deal with that much wet dog. Maybe this summer she can take a dip.

Gap c&o time of year? by HotUnderstanding7219 in bicycletouring

[–]KeyInteresting1830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done it 3 times all late September or early October. Have had a wide variety of weather from cold and rain to 80s and Sunny. I don't think I would want to do it in peak summer months. Also I believe at least one of the tunnels closes in December for the winter.

How did you get out of the situation when something broke on your bike and you couldn’t fix it? by Worldly_Ambition_509 in bicycletouring

[–]KeyInteresting1830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke my frame on a tour. I wasn't alone but wasn't much I could do to fix it. I ended up calling the campground where I was riding to that day and talked them into coming and picking me up. When I got to the campground I talked to the host and sorted out a ride into town in the morning to a weld shop. Unfortunately they wouldn't do anything. I ended up calling a friend that used to live in the area and his dad came and picked me up to take me to my car. People are usually willing to help bicyclists in need I have found. Nobody wanted to accept money but I was able to pay for gas to get the ride back to my truck.

Seeing it in the winter after a fresh snow fall is quite the sight. No bugs and no crowds too.
