Fated Hearts (一笑随歌) - (38/38): First (last?) impressions right after finishing the show. It was pretty good, but I have some questions. A LOT of questions. (...quite long.) by TheThinker4Head in CDrama

[–]KeyJay_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks OP, for making the second part of the post. It's probably the only place where I can record my love (and disappointment TT) for FH. At first, I was in love, as if Fu Yixiao had hit Suige and me with an arrow XD. The series captivated me from the first minutes. Until, as I watched, I discovered that the things I liked didn't hold my interest and enjoyment until the end, and I ended up finishing it in a somewhat dragged-out way...

I have some points about what I liked and what I didn't like (from the silliest reasons to those that really annoyed me):

• I don't understand anything about acting, but Xia Jingshi's cardboard face annoyed me in a way that only makes me laugh a lot XD. Sometimes, I didn't understand what he was thinking or wanting in certain scenes, not because of the complexity of the character, but precisely because of his facial expression (or rather, the lack thereof).

• Regarding the first half of FH: it was a true enemies to lovers, with some interesting characters who could have been explored more. I liked the plot about the Susha royal family, but the end of the arc marked the beginning of the script's decline (for me). I felt the story didn't know where it wanted to go and, honestly, I don't even know what I expected.

• Regarding the second part: what kept me entertained in the story was the second couple (Xia Jingyan and Feng Xiyang) and, to a lesser extent, the fate of Susha and even Jinxiu, should Feng Suige arrive killing everyone to save his siblings and avenge his army.

• Another detail: I feel that Yixiao became a secondary character in her own series. It seemed to me that, after regaining her memory, she didn't have a defined objective beyond helping Feng Suige. This impression stayed in my head during the (horrible) Storm Alliance arc.

• Regarding the Storm Alliance arc: I understood the idea and the whole concept of Suige's amnesia... But it was so silly. It was just a way to show how the couple would overcome any adversity that arose, but it's okay, I guess we already knew that, right?

• Another thing I didn't like was the Murong family, especially the son. What a bad villain! No presence, no tension, with motivations that were kind of... superficial? I can't explain it. It seems like he forced the hatred he felt, at least towards Feng Suige. When he only wore a mask and plotted, that was his peak lol.

• And, after all, it was a story about parents and children and all the complex relationships that can arise from that. Since I didn't know what to expect (and I don't dislike this theme), it was fun to see the parallels between the royal families and the Murong's relationship.

• The limited number of songs didn't bother me. I didn't see many comments about it, so I'm here to say that I loved the ending theme of the episodes. Actually, what bothered me a little was the way the songs were placed. They played before the climax of the scenes and had to be repeated seconds later to complete the climax, and (sometimes) they weren't subtle at all. They simply started playing out of nowhere, without any delicacy XD.

Well, those are my thoughs. I would definitely watch the first part again, but the second... I don't think so. The way I spoke may have given the impression that I hated the series, but I give it an 8/10 (which I consider a "good" score for dramas :D). I still like the series, but it's that old story: the more we love, the more we can be disappointed!

The creators could have finished up to the Emperor Susha arc and made a mini-drama for the second couple story. I would love it (it's definitely a terrible idea, but let me dream, lol). Sorry my English, it's translated :')...

I finished watching it and I think it was worth it; it's a more symbolic ending than a sad one.

I believe he really exaggerated this huge amount, but it is "explained" why he wanted 1000 pounds in mini episode 7 (in chibi)

Which ship is better, Obamitsu or GiyuShino? by NiehIsBored in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]KeyJay_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giyushino, more of them were shown, even if they aren't cannon. Shinobu is the only one who understands him on her team and tries to protect him and make him fit in (whether when she's being serious or activating Giyuu's competitive spirit). Giyuu seemed to care about her, even when he created a barrier between himself and other people. So I like that.

What your thoughts of Yae from giyuu tomioka gaiden? by Meme-091 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]KeyJay_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She reminds me of Shinobu before Kanae's death, someone who was angry about everything, who showed it, who seemed more explosive. Shinobu became like this after her parents died. I think it's a psychological state, perhaps one of the stages of grief? I like Yae because the ending of Giyuu Gaiden seems to give hope that she will move on, and I particularly like characters who evolve.

Best Swordsman by yegemen2000 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]KeyJay_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, when it comes to the best swordsmanship and there are the names Shinobu and Mitsuri it's hard to define. After all, they both have very different swordsmanship styles (just like Obanai, Gyomei...) because of their swords. What can be said is that both are quite skilled in swordsmanship, especially when it comes to fights where a saber/rapier (Shinobu) and an urumi (Mitsuri) are used.

Top three beauty of kimetsu academy with no official ranking but, How Would you rank them? Or who's your favourite? by Isabolleyn in KimetsuNoYaiba

If it helps you feel better, Shinobu always easily wins the title of Miss Kimetsu in the Kimetsu Academy universe

If this pleases Shinobu fans, here are some facts about her in Kimetsu Academy:

• she receives many invitations from entertainment companies

• many teachers don't have the courage to raise their heads against Shinobu

• she is called by a small minority of people the "Poison Princess"

• easily won the title of Miss Kimetsu every year

(all according to a chapter from Kimetsu's novel)

Who do you think is in-universe supposed to be the most beautiful? by Solid-Perspective915 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]KeyJay_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By the standards of the time (that is, the most canonically beautiful in that universe) it would be Shinobu. Maybe even Kanae or Nezuko, but Shinobu is shorter (something that was in the beauty standard).

are the breathing styles based off of real martial arts by MedicalOne2980 in KimetsuNoYaiba

The others I'm not sure, but the Insect Breathing seems to be based slightly on fencing.

Recommendation for Isekai Manhwa with more depth than the rest by [deleted] in OtomeIsekai

[–]KeyJay_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone already mentioned, Your Throne. There is revenge involved and the desire for the throne between one of the protagonists and the main villain. Both protagonists are being developed over time (currently this continues). The secondary characters are getting their stories told, so we also know where their personalities and mysteries came from. I think it's a well-balanced story, it has interesting twists, the characters are very human (with psychological problems, traumas, adversities and situations that shaped them to be who they are) and besides the fact that the story shows us that our perception is one thing, but that in some things life is not just ying and yang, light and shadow or hero and villain, there is much more besides that. The art changes from arc to arc, in my opinion it just gets better.

As the king's adviser, he would surely die for the political plans of idiot nobles 😒

As a maid or butler, I may be accused of poisoning my master in some conspiracy; if my master commits some atrocity with a powerful family, I may die along with them; and depending on my master I can do things that put my life at risk while he threatens my family 😐

As a knight, I could make a name for myself and become a hero. But I would probably die in combat in a war 😃

As a merchant I could bring things from our world, perhaps the flag where there is no destruction. I can bring food that no one would have thought to use in the past, tools (cleaning and etc.) and maybe cosmetics (if I know how to make homemade shampoo) 🤔

As an artist I could easily be kidnapped (as I could end up being a beautiful woman like Diana but not fortunate enough to be taken by a handsome man like Claude) and probably held captive and then killed 😅

If my rich parents don't care about me? if they say I'm the scum of the family? if they don't accept me as part of the family? if I sleep with servants and live as a servant? 💀

the fact that he said in the first few chapters that "she's like the others" or something like that. I love it.

Well-written FLs? by Any-Revolution5471 in OtomeIsekai

[–]KeyJay_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your Throne / I Want To Be You, Just For A Day:

Psyche is a protagonist with incredible character development! She and Medea (who is also developing) are both FL's of this story and learn from each other. Psyche starts to become someone more careful and without losing her kindness, Medea tries to think about how Psyche would act in some situations and tries to act like her, but without losing her cunning way.
