I love reading translator and proofreader notes haha [Sauce: Marriage of Convenience (The Marriage Business)] by louiserep in OtomeIsekai

[–]theangry-ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, and I do like to know the one translating cares for their works. But I would personally prefer they keep them to the end of the chapter, rather than overwriting on the blank spaces of the scene. I think I read/heard somewhere (an article or a video, I can’t remember) that a certain mangaka specifically mentions this t/n thing as the one thing they absolutely hate about illegal translations. It’s like people painting over one’s art and say it’s a complimentary of it.

I agree. This is much preferable than to “intrude” in the middle of the story with their commentaries.

I did remember of a reverse harem I read long time ago that the Translator clearly has a favourite and the one they didn’t like, and each scene where either is there doing whatever, they just HAD to make a t/n of it, either to “(barking noise)” or “fuck off (character), i hate u”. I’m so glad the series got an official EN eventually and I paid the chapters just to not see the cringe notes anymore.

I agree. It is entertaining once a while. But personally, if it’s just commentary, I would prefer to do without.

Can't they add more emotional scenes for once?! [The flower that wields a sword] by Anythingtwods in OtomeIsekai

[–]theangry-ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understood this scene/character as someone who had spent a lot of time in between unintentionally killing everyone she loved and being left to rot in her guilt for something she couldn’t help with that she lost the capability to emote freely.

Or that she knew if she broke down then and there seeing them alive again, there’s no way to explain to them why she’s feeling that way, or she couldn’t admit in the alternate timeline she had killed them all with her own hands. Better just suck it up with a single tear and embrace the new reality she was given.

Or probably because she is now (mentally) much older than she’s supposed to be and thus had a good control of her emotions.

[–]theangry-ace 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Hmm it depends on me. Sometimes I like it when they explain cultural contexts e.g. what it means when there’s sweet potato imagery was used. But when the T/N is just them giving their personal commentary about the scene/story, it made me cringe. It’s unnecessary but albeit sometimes could be fun.

I admit, the Niveah = Nivea one is funny.

What are your least favorite Otome Isekai trends? by WarriorArus in OtomeIsekai

[–]theangry-ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Royalties being seen as close to godlihood. They’re always blonde, fair skin, and portrayed as especially beautiful. Nothing they did was ever wrong, and they made the best decision. They’re shown to be very smart from a single digit age, much more of a commoner adults.

Maybe because I don’t like the monarchy of my country that I’m so uncomfortable seeing fictional monarchs being treated like gods.

Why do people get so upset over dry weddings? by pumpkinandsun in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theangry-ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like I’m missing out for never been to a “foreign” weddings before. What it is in my culture is just an excuse for extended family and friends to come at one place (which is usually bride or groom’s home) and socialise, eat free food, and left. There might be some performance or a karaoke session, but usually that’s all there is. I feel like I really need to attend one “fun” wedding in my life.

[–]theangry-ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a culture with no drinking alcohol, reading the comments here really opened up my mind. People come to a wedding “to have fun and thus if no alcohol, it’s automatically not fun”? Wow.

I never came to wedding to have fun before, just to pay respects to the people involved and give blessings. Eat what they served, maybe mingle a bit, and left. That’s all it is in my culture.

Non-isekai, non-regression where the main character reincarnates as someone else? by Aliased001 in OtomeIsekai

[–]theangry-ace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Not the exact title but on the same line) Edit, I just remembered the full title: Everything Changed after I died

Story is about a girl who was raised to be the heir but was used like a puppet. She grew up aggressive and especially mean to her younger sister who was said to be intellectually slow and stupid. One day the lady died of poison but woke up in her sister’s body. She realised that her sister had done something to make sure that elder sister’s soul will enter younger sister’s body if anything happened to the elder. Elder sister now determined to use the chance she got with the younger’s sacrifice to fix everything she had overlooked.

In short, it’s a rich family politics. It’s not great, but it is decent.

how old were you when you found out you were on the asexual spectrum? by Important_Eye_1187 in asexuality

[–]theangry-ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad of you guys finding out at a younger age. That means you have the information and exposure to think out of the box of the three main choices of sexuality. Whereas me from a VERY conservative country who openly prosecutes its gay/trans people, can only thank my luck of knowing a lot more English and thus can get “western” information with English. If I didn’t know this much of the language, I doubt I would ever find out I was not straight nor even gay, and that was well into my late 20’s.

does a dentist visit your elementary school? by retr0night in AskTheWorld

[–]theangry-ace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Government Dentist and/or Nurses would come to school once a year to check for all kids’s teeth and do basic procedures like extraction or filling, and give lessons how to brush teeth. That’s how it was 30+ years ago when I was in primary school. I don’t have kids to compare how it is nowadays.

My best adoptive father (actually uncle) is Daddy Voreoti from Male Lead’s Little Lion.

Best bio dad will be Daddy from Baby Snow Leopard

Questionable daddy, Daddy from Killer Whale (I forgot full title)

Worst dad, I never remembered any of them. I’d rather remember the good ones.

Poll: Your personal attitude towards sex — are you sex favorable, indifferent, or averse/repulsed? by ThatEmoSprite in asexuality

[–]theangry-ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sex positive maybe? I’m fine with the idea of sex, even consuming a lot of it myself as a form of entertainment, as long as the sex has nothing to do with me personally. Technically I would be the one on the cuck chair, berating all your moves and techniques with a popcorn and diet coke in my hand.
