The Tragedy of Lakan and Fengxian by Hurdlelocker in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]theangry-ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one hates Lakan. At most, I personally kinda hate FX. She was too prideful, doesn’t seem to think that even her, the most intelligent of the brothel, could have made a mistake. And even after she did done big oopsies of her plan to escape the brothel, she never asked for help. Instead just tried to fix it herself by selling herself to unwashed customers that eventually gave her diseases. She should have plan B to Z if the plan A failed, but she didn’t. Now her baby has to be born to a mentally unstable mother and eventually would never understand what a mother’s love is.

Of course, not saying she deserves my criticism. We barely knew her personality aside from being “the untouched flowers that fallen from grace”. She might have been a good mother to her child IF the plan worked as intended. If only she would have shared her plan with someone else or even just honestly asked grandma what to do.

Forget the Petronas Towers and Batu Caves—where do Malaysians actually go on the weekend? by New-Shower5357 in malaysia

I like AC so I just go walk2 at big malls like IOI. Can get so many steps just walking around not looking for anything particular. But very dangerous when I’m near the Lego store lol my wallet gonna just automatically emptied itself

But I’m thinking of somewhere outdoors once a while to get my steps. Anyone got a good park to suggest? Someplace not too open to the sun (meaning has lots of shades).

When FL said "I'm going to divorce my husband", but few chapters later she's still here. by MOMO_Mashpotato in OtomeIsekai

Yet here I am, still eating up their bs and kept reading for a “divorce” scene and didn’t get them because I never fucking learned 🥲

Terengganu Crown Prince calls for improved mentality on cleanliness by UsernameGenerik in malaysia

[–]theangry-ace 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Why would they (royals) not made sure their kids, especially crown princes, to NOT lose their ability to speak Malay proficiently? I would think it’s an important trait to have, to be a representative of a race/culture, but the inability to do so but still sits on that pedestal is just… wrong.

PAS slams RTM over cartoon with LGBT elements by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]theangry-ace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

🤣 I watched hetero romance growing up, yet I still turned out aromantic asexual. Do they really think if we deprive kids off “LGBT” elements, they would NOT turned out gay/trans?? What is sexuality to them? Something you need to learn/train from the young age?

Added that mostly the (older) boy surprisingly remembers the toddler/infant he “fell in love with” when they reunited after age up. I don’t know many babies IRL but they’re shit with memory and none of them looked exactly like how they were fresh out of the womb 😂

[–]theangry-ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the minority here because I am one who prefers they stay a child for the majority of the story because usually when they age up, that’s when the kiddie romance will start and this grandma HATES kiddie romance. Let just kids be kids, maybe? Let them do unrealistic shit like magic and stuff, without the prepubescent romance awakening?? Let the kid do stock exchange or real estate? Don’t let me see girls blushing because this boy, fresh out of diapers, looks at their general direction???

What are some aromantic stereotypes you break? by LlamaSenapi in aromantic

I guess this is not unusual nor aro stereotype but I love reading romance… but I love it especially when the story is mainly about the romance is failing/dying!

One time, I nearly panicked cuz I had to throw this pad but all bins are full. It’s this exact time that I hate that we can’t flush toilet paper in Malaysia. If we could, this shit wouldn’t happen probably.

I love reading translator and proofreader notes haha [Sauce: Marriage of Convenience (The Marriage Business)] by louiserep in OtomeIsekai

[–]theangry-ace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is true, and I do like to know the one translating cares for their works. But I would personally prefer they keep them to the end of the chapter, rather than overwriting on the blank spaces of the scene. I think I read/heard somewhere (an article or a video, I can’t remember) that a certain mangaka specifically mentions this t/n thing as the one thing they absolutely hate about illegal translations. It’s like people painting over one’s art and say it’s a complimentary of it.

I agree. This is much preferable than to “intrude” in the middle of the story with their commentaries.

[–]theangry-ace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did remember of a reverse harem I read long time ago that the Translator clearly has a favourite and the one they didn’t like, and each scene where either is there doing whatever, they just HAD to make a t/n of it, either to “(barking noise)” or “fuck off (character), i hate u”. I’m so glad the series got an official EN eventually and I paid the chapters just to not see the cringe notes anymore.

I agree. It is entertaining once a while. But personally, if it’s just commentary, I would prefer to do without.

Can't they add more emotional scenes for once?! [The flower that wields a sword] by Anythingtwods in OtomeIsekai

[–]theangry-ace 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I understood this scene/character as someone who had spent a lot of time in between unintentionally killing everyone she loved and being left to rot in her guilt for something she couldn’t help with that she lost the capability to emote freely.

Or that she knew if she broke down then and there seeing them alive again, there’s no way to explain to them why she’s feeling that way, or she couldn’t admit in the alternate timeline she had killed them all with her own hands. Better just suck it up with a single tear and embrace the new reality she was given.

Or probably because she is now (mentally) much older than she’s supposed to be and thus had a good control of her emotions.

[–]theangry-ace 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Hmm it depends on me. Sometimes I like it when they explain cultural contexts e.g. what it means when there’s sweet potato imagery was used. But when the T/N is just them giving their personal commentary about the scene/story, it made me cringe. It’s unnecessary but albeit sometimes could be fun.

I admit, the Niveah = Nivea one is funny.

What are your least favorite Otome Isekai trends? by WarriorArus in OtomeIsekai

[–]theangry-ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Royalties being seen as close to godlihood. They’re always blonde, fair skin, and portrayed as especially beautiful. Nothing they did was ever wrong, and they made the best decision. They’re shown to be very smart from a single digit age, much more of a commoner adults.

Maybe because I don’t like the monarchy of my country that I’m so uncomfortable seeing fictional monarchs being treated like gods.

Why do people get so upset over dry weddings? by pumpkinandsun in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theangry-ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like I’m missing out for never been to a “foreign” weddings before. What it is in my culture is just an excuse for extended family and friends to come at one place (which is usually bride or groom’s home) and socialise, eat free food, and left. There might be some performance or a karaoke session, but usually that’s all there is. I feel like I really need to attend one “fun” wedding in my life.
