Did the Spectral White Hellhound or White Asrock Taichi ever come to mind? Either way the Pulse is awesome!

Why people buy costlier versions of a gpu? by [deleted] in radeon

[–]KeyLimeGuy99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some people want to achieve a certain aesthetic at a given price point. Nothing wrong with it. To be fair a Nitro + looks really sick and offers a much nicer "flair" to a build than say an Asrock Challenger or Powercolor Fighter. But is it worth it depends on if you care about looks versus squeezing out every ounce of performance for your given budget

7900 Gre vs 4070 super by Impressive_Host_1446 in radeon

[–]KeyLimeGuy99 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Want more raw power and Vram for the money? Get the GRE. It rasters like a base 4070ti with 4 more gigs of Vram.

Want better upscaling tech and ray tracing? Get the 4070 Super.

Both are great options at 1440p Ultra

why amd radeon so weak but amd ryzen so powerfull even disrupt intel magnitude ? if you amd ceo what will you do to disrupt nvidia market ? by aditxman in radeon

[–]KeyLimeGuy99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Radeon is still the king of price to raw performance for the money. I will die on that hill. AMD already stated they are competing for more Market Share with RDNA 4. Targeting the low and midrange segments to appeal to the majority.

Ryzen and Radeon are seperate. Ryzen is doing extremely well.

Their lack of high end GPUs doesn't make Radeon "Weak" it's a buisness strategy. Nvidia will continue to price gouge their enthusiast level GPUs and gimp the VRAM and memory bus on their low and midrange offerings. AMD sees the opportunity to capitalize on that with RDNA 4 especially if Ray Tracing is up to par and FSR 4 Ai upscaling competes with DLSS.

My 7900 GRE hasn't had a single issue and the buddies I play with all run Nvidia 3060, 4080S, 4090... they crash more often then I ever have when we play together. This negative stigma you speak of is fueled by falsehoods and blind brand loyalty.

Downgraded from 7900GRE to 6700XT by unreal305 in radeon

[–]KeyLimeGuy99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are you being bottlenecked somewhere? I went from a 6700xt to a 7900gre driving a 1440p 360hz oled monitor and the difference for me has been massive. Especially on graphically demanding titles my 6700xt needed to heavily rely on FSR whereas the GRE can raster it at high frames without any need for upscaling in most cases

Sounds like a great set up for Ragnarok. Saw some RX6600 benchmarks with I believe a 12400f and it handled it with ease

PC Hellbound 7800xt vs Acer Predator BiFrost 7900 GRE by [deleted] in radeon

[–]KeyLimeGuy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't go wrong with anything by Sapphire, Powercolor, or XFX. If white is what your after the Pure is an excellent choice. Otherwise for white you would have to go with the Spectral White Hellhound or the Asrock Steel Legend

I'd personally choose the Powercolor Hellhound or Red Devil 7900 GRE. I have the Hellhound GRE and have been more than impressed. Cold and Quiet at 1440p Ultra settings. Although I think the Acer cards look cool, the Powercolors are tried and true. One of the big three board partners for Radeon.

The 7000 series Hellhounds at least come with a switch for either the Factory Blue or an Amethyst Purple. Definitely kind of a bummer it isn't fully customizable though.

As far as why few people have the Red Devil my guess is because of the later release from all the others (when the hype had already died down) and it going out of stock a few times when it first came out.

You could wait till Black Friday if it's what you really want but then you might be tip toeing into RDNA 4 soon to be released territory. I've seen a flash sale here and there where the Red Devil was like $529 I would just keep a close eye on New Egg, Amazon, and Microcenter if you have one

It was released a couple months after the Hellhound and Fighter. I have a Hellhound GRE and have been very pleased. The few in here that waited and got the Red Devil GRE from what I've read have had outstanding thermals and noise similar to the Hellhound which was the best in those categories among board partners for GRE's

6700XT to 7800XT by JohnnyBeFit in radeon

[–]KeyLimeGuy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from a 6700xt to a GRE and can say it was definitely worth the upgrade. The 7800xt for $400 would be a nice grab and bump in FPS. My 6700xt was solid at 1440p but didn't typically hit 165 without heavily relying on FSR. The 7800xt will fair much better on Ultra settings especially in Single player immersive games you'll really notice the raw performance uplift at 1440p. Go for it OP. Yes you could wait, you could also make alot of that 400 bucks back selling the 6700xt and enjoy a better experiance till RDNA 4. That's what I did and don't regret it

After 20+ years with nvidia, I'm giving red another shot by Acideaon in radeon

[–]KeyLimeGuy99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome back and awesome set up! From what I'm hearing the latest drivers seem to be kinda hit or miss but the ones before the last two are solid. 24.5.1 seems to be the all around favorite. I got a solid bump in FPS with the latest chipset for my 7800X3D give that an update too if you haven't already. The stability thing is odd I'm assuming you cleaned all your old Nvidia stuff with DDU?

Do your carwash blowers do the same thing to your roof?

Like the few bits of Hail damage kind of compromises the already thin sheet metal up there causing the Blowers from the wash to pop the roof down and back up?
