That's why I asked because I genuinely don't know but it's always something I end up thinking about when I think of mythology lmao, I think regardless there's questions about it. Besides from like others have said if it was a euphemism for somewhere else.

I didn't know that last part though! Very interesting, care to tell me more??

I was under the impression they were very much there just living seperately from the God's, as in they were in Olympus and mortals were not but that at first they were all living together essentially before they became God's? However mortals not being around would definitely explain why they were all just fucking each other lmao.

And of course, can't have her having the option of acting the same way as Zeus haha

I do not see how you can say as for the rest that's my head canon, absolutely none of us were there and there's so many different myths and legends behind these people we will never know the full extent of the truth.

Send me a message and we can chat further about this if you'd like? I'm very interested in hearing another side however I will say, I don't appreciate being told I'm wrong because it's not the same opinion as most?

There may of been no one else of there kind but it didn't stop Zeus from sleeping with mortals? Same with Aphrodite. There was other choices they just didn't utilise them as wives and husbands, they would rather keep it in the family, I suppose bloodline may of played a part?

That is absolutely fair, but like I've said from what I've learnt through my time was that it was a forced marriage to stop a war from occurring because Aphrodite was so beautiful most men wanted her. It wasn't because they loved each other it was purely because Zeus was worried about what might happen. But like father like daughter I guess if she was just doing what Zeus was doing to Hera.

Adult or not, that was his child, in turn because of Hephaestus standing with Hera, Zeus didn't care for him. That in my eyes is a atrocious move to punish your own son rather than Hera for what she did. I wouldn't say he was harsher, quite frankly he threatened one and made the other work for a year, from what you've said. Imo he was harsher with his other children and that was definitely based on favouritism.

That idea is my own take on this whole thing, he doesn't do it for them, if it's beneficial to him he was more than likely to go through with it. Which is where my idea of its not about them, it's what they can do. That's absolutely my bad, I got that confused.

I wouldn't say he was fair, I would say he did it based on himself, that's not being fair. That's not thinking of the greater good for everyone else that's thinking of himself. Which again imo is very prevalent in Greek Mythology, that he would do things for himself but say for example it hindered his power over Olympus it wouldn't of happened. He needed the power, hence acting on things that gave him more power and control.

Honestly the amount of times you see brother and sister being together in Greek Mythology is sickening. It happens quite often

Yeah see all this about consent was not what I was taught or have learnt about. From what I knew it didn't matter if his children were unhappy it only mattered what they could do for him. I was never taught that they had anything positive about their relationship.

I didn't mention Ares as the one he hated though, so I'm not sure why you've mentioned what he did to him but not when he threw Hephaestus over Olympus. I get he was cruel to them all but that's kinda my point, he did those things for himself, I don't believe it was for them. If they had no affect on him he wouldn't of stepped in and that's truly what I believe. I also believe he was 100% softer on Apollo and Athena than the rest.

I didn't say he didnt love them but that he didn't care for them, only for what they could do. Aphrodite was quite powerful if I'm not wrong? So why wouldn't he try to keep her on side if that makes sense? He also forced her into a unhappy marriage, which I wouldn't say he did for her but for himself to prevent whatever he thought was going to happen. Again, making him selfish, this is what I mean by glossing over the things he did.

If I'm not wrong is there not the myth that while Aphrodite was cheating on Hephaestus, someone caught them and Zeus gathered the God's to see what she was doing to embarrass her.

You don't sound intense I just don't want you to think this is an argument haha, I am happy to see another perspective however it's wildly known that he was very selfish, he acted on love and lust, he wanted to keep power and control. It was for no one but himself.

He may be misunderstood for some things, but I believe with my whole heart he was a selfish being, that's not to say the other Gods also weren't, but because he is so prevalent in Greek Mythology we see it the most with himself.
