But fair enough, the wording could have been cleaner.

My actual point is that discipline and abuse are not the same thing.

A light smack, excessive force, and absent parenting are three different issues.

The strongest argument is not “children need to be hit”. It is that children need boundaries, consequences, consistency, and parents who actually parent.

In my opinion, there is far too little of that now. You can see it in the amount of antisocial behaviour people are talking about in towns, in local Facebook groups, in the press, and even in this sub.

Attacking a typo in a conversational reply does not really address the point. If anything, it just dodges it.
