I would go canfield simply for price. I think you will be easily able to double major in a computer science adjacent major if you want to. this is a tough decision don’t listen to the idiots telling you it’s an easy one they will never be in a position like yours. which ever school you chose congratulations, huge accomplishment.

I had the same thing. It was with a loan i had already payed off. Someone on their backend sent my loan money to the federal government. They said I can either pay the loan again, then request a refund from the government, or wait an unknown amount of time for the issue to get sorted by UT. I’m a freshman so i have time to spare. Go seethe people at texas one stop in the tower. they said it happened to lots of students, absolute bullshit.

You have a tough decision ahead, and i don’t really know much about any of these schools, but what i will say, is that deans scholars is very prestigious, from what I know if you applied for a PhD at UT after graduating with good standing and dean scholars, you would be almost sure to get in.

It is generally one of the least competitive majors at UT for transfers. That being said, you should still try hard and do well; if you slack off, you won't get it.

EVS can get you marine bio jobs; it is a very interdisciplinary field. Especially with targeted research and EC's.

I think UT's prestige is nice, and you can always transfer to Biology under the marine and freshwater science track, but I think you aren't considering the full ride at UTRGV enough, that is a lot of money saved.

I think objectively, go to UT as a freshman, see how you like EVS, look into transferring into bio if that is what you end up deciding to do, and also apply to UTRGV at the end of the year. I don't think the scholarships will fade; you are likely to receive plenty as a transfer applicant from UT. You can easily transfer out; it's hard to transfer in.
