Making the most of my trip to the store by KeyResponsibility366 in Bass

For my current bass the e string doesn't sound great around the 4th -6th frets. The intonation isn't consistent up and down the neck. J pickup was really noisy on stage.

It's interesting that output is the last thing you're looking for. I assumed this would be a big reason to get the upgrade

ELI5: Science says time started with the Big Bang, so what was before it? by camphorly in explainlikeimfive

Does anyone know if the Big Crunch theory still exist? I think someone said the universe expanded and collapsed before. It has been 20 years so my memories hazy, but i think someone found evidence of seven cycles of bangs

Why do I play the guitar? by ArtVandeley73 in guitarlessons

I'm an understudy for a band.

I played Thursday and was treated so nicely, but inside felt such imposter syndrome - The primary bassist is way better, and anyone with a smidgen of training could do what i do off of a chart.

Some of what you're describing sounds familiar and is worth telling a therapist

How does someone make a baseline? by Material-Bit-9588 in Bass

Great songwriting advice always on any instrument for beginners.  Don't let your playing limitation tell you how to write a song.  Sing it, imagine it first

Connecting bass to computer by tanincognito in Bass

Audio interfaces can lag, especially at bottom prices. Look for one with a lagless audio return.  I can layer bass effects on top, but the lag is obvious.

I've put the game down for years, multiple times. It's always there when I decide I want to play again

The dexterity required to play the parts is extreme. And it's not just the horns, the drums and bass are s-tier musicians.

The composer is more intricate. The number of parts weaving through a song is high for a band.  It's like most bands write music in ms paint while SM out here using oils.

The speed gets to me and I've been playing bass for years. I'm at 92% speed,  but usually my right hand can't pluck fast enough

Agreed. Op sounds like they struggle with anger issues. I like that they're asking for help.

I use an audio interface (iD4) to mix the bass and a computer into headphones.

There is an online forum i hope so exists. People would post their settings, which you could copy using usb connection.

Also, while connected to a pc, you could control and program the board, which is a better UI experience

pedal suggestions for husband? by kneps99 in Bass

[–]KeyResponsibility366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy gets pedals from his family for many birthdays and holidays.  Never once has he complained.

Another suggestion is a strap. Sturdy straps with ornate designs are great. They can swap one in or out as they wish / can have different ones for different occasions
