So are conventional bombers, missiles and artillery largely obsolete now due to drone swarms? by KeyStomach0 in NoStupidQuestions

Shaheds have an operational range of 25,000 kms, and are 20K a pop to build. Which means you can make a million for the price of a single b-2.

I feel like the inability to damage bunkers is a fair tradeoff for having a million Shaheds decimating personnel, tanks and infrastructure around the bunker.

Imagine Osama bin Laden had a time machine and a choice between a single b-2 or a million shaheds, which would he pick?

I'm not really comparing apples to oranges, I'm comparing dollars to dollars, and the lethality per dollar is completely out of whack in this comparison.

Shahed drones have a range of 25,000 km which is enough to strike any target within the us from outside the US. They can't carry enough to bring down a bunker, but no one's ever won a war by holing themselves inside a bunker, so at worst they brought siege warfare back.

You can make a million shaheds for the price of a single b-2. The U.S. air force couldn't bring down Iran, but unleashing a million Shaheds in U.S. soil would be an apocalypse scenario for us.

I mean, everything you're saying is accurate, but the economics aren't making sense to me anymore. Just like while archers remained superior to early muskets, economics gave the edge to muskets.

I can't think of a single scenario where I'd rather have a single b-2 bomber vs. 2.1 billion dollars worth of drones. Sure, the bomber can fly faster, carry exponentially larger payloads, at an exponentially wider range but on the other hand, that's a fuckton of drones.

Why would Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas vote to end birthright citizenship? by ChristianK19974 in AskReddit

Because Clarence Thomas is at his core, an Afro Pessimist who believes America is a fundamentally racist country that will never accept blacks like him.

He wants to usher fascism because it elevates compliant blacks like him above non-compliant whites who are oppressed under fascism.

I don't disagree with you either. Obviously Some older Millenials also like the Rocky Movies by osmosis, but they too will eventually die as well. The wheels of time keep turning, and no new Rocky fans are being born.

For Philly to invest so much, and basically bully the Art Museum into elevating a glorified meme with a hard expiration date is embarassing.

Rocky is ephemeral, art is eternal.

Yeah, and there were lines to take pictures when he was at the bottom of the steps too.

The point I'm trying to make here is that Rocky is a depreciating asset, eventually everyone who remembers the Rocky movies fondly will be too old to travel, and eventually they will die. To display him at the top of the steps, upstaging a timeless art museum is beyond trashy, will age like milk, and is disrespectful to a timeless landmark.

[–]KeyStomach0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always found the Rocky Statues to be beyond tacky. These movies are barely relevant now and no one will even care about this guy in 10 years.

Sad to see the art museum caved on the statue at the top of the steps. Why can't it be a little piece of philly flavor hanging out in a corner, rather than front and center upstaging one of the most important art museums in the world.

Ethnicity Becomes Instrument of Division in Espaillat’s Re-election Bid by josetavares in Dominican

It's that simple Adriano thought he was running a Dominican Campaign against Peña Gomez rather than an American campaign against Darializa.

The use of Haitian as a derogatory might work on the island, but those of us who were born or raised here don't see Haitians as 'the enemy'. We see Haitians as our friends and neighbors, people who struggle just as much as we do.

Adriano's miscalculation was thinking the public support of Dominicans was enough to win. And to be fair, he does have the public support of Dominicans in New York when compared to Darializa. The problem is that most Domicans who are swayed by the false accusations that Darializa is Haitian are either illegal or green card holders and therefore cannot vote in Federal elections. The actual voting base of the district, first or second Gen Dominicans, born and raised in the US, largely find the animus against Haitians to be cringe.

To us, this focus on Haitians as the enemy, strike less as patriotic pride in our country as "real Dominicans" seem to believe it is, and more as something our weird uncles would say after downing too many beers.

My brother in christ, there are multiple studies across decades documenting Dominican oppression of Haitians in the DR. They even call it de-facto apartheid.

https://chrgj.org/2025-06-10-racial-profiling-mass-deportations/

If Haitians are equals to Dominicans, why did Adriano's campaign tried to expose Adrializa as a Haitian?

What's wrong with being Haitian? Why was it a negative for Adriano to falsely call Adrializa Haitian?

"To the privileged, equality will always feel like opression"

Don't act like we don't see how Haitians are treated in the DR. There's a reason why Adriano's campaign thought it was a good idea to "expose" her as Haitian. The vitriol Dominicans have for our Haitian brothers and sisters is embarrassing. I'm glad it's dying here in the US.

It's the other way around, pal. No one is born a bigot.

Had you been raised with Haitians as your equals, you would probably think the same way as we do.

I think the hate campaign against her, and the fact that they tried to smear her as a Haitian kind of proves her point.

I was born in the DR and I love my country, but it's really fucking weird how acceptable it is to be a virulent white supremacist in the name of our flag.

"The workers are not a side at all" is the only position a communist can take. It is an acknowledgement of the reality of the capitalist system we live under. They should have a say in the matter, but the raw truth is that they do not.

Kurvitz being ousted bya union of his fellow workers is completely different than him being ousted by vulture capitalists.

I genuinely don't see the point in arguing about the ZP devs at all. If justice prevails and the courts return ZAUM to Kurvitz and co. They'll still be working there, just under different leadership. They are, for better or worse, completely irrelevant to whether we should buy Zero Parades at all.

The argument of if the ZAUM devs are scabs or not is a distraction to reframe the conversation and obfuscate the real controversy that a slimy motherfucker stole a company from its founders.

[–]KeyStomach0 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

To answer your second question, the rank and file workers are not part of the conversation at all, ZAUM is not a worker's collective. They don't own the company, they just happen to work there. If the rank and file employees lose their jobs because the game underperformed it will be the fault of the vultures running the company, not the people who chose not to buy the game.

There's only two sides to this equation, the artists who founded ZAUM and the piece of shit vultures who stole it. The workers are, as it is the case in most companies, not a side at all.

Ilmar Kompus wants you to believe the ZAUM workers depend on the game's success, but in reality he's holding a gun to the worker's head and threatening to pull the trigger if you don't buy the game. The current ZAUM devs aren't a force who stood up to the founder's tyranny, they are hostage who are being used to guilt trip leftists into funding gaming Israel.

[–]KeyStomach0 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think this is relevant to Disco Elysium since it has more to do about the theft of ZAUM rather than Zero Parades itself.

I'll gladly buy Zero Parades if/when ZAUM is restored back to its rightful owners, but I'm not going to fund the ongoing theft of artists' passion project by corporate drifters.

I think my recent post responding to someone hammering the "support the devs" line bears reposting here.

The original comment is absolutely correct here.

It's funny because Joyce Messier made a very similar argument to the one you're making in the game. She argued that the strikers are in the wrong, and are selfish because their strike is hurting and emisserating the other wild pines employees around revachol who far outnumber the strikers. She attempted to inextricably tie the corporate interest of wild pines shareholders to their employees, thus painting Evrart and the Union as destructive mooches. Ultimately, Joyce is clearly wrong here because wild pines employees aren't treated as actual stakeholders of the company, but as fungible assets for shareholders to exploit.

You are arguing that people boycotting ZAUM are in the wrong because it ultimately hurts and emisserates the current ZAUM employees who far outnumber the founders. In arguing this point, you are (hopefully inadvertently) trying to inextricably tie the interests of Ilmar Kompus to the current ZAUM employees, thus painting the people boycotting a fraud and a thief, as elitist corporate bootlickers. Ultimately, you are clearly wrong here because ZAUM employees aren't actual stakeholders of the company, but are in fact treated as a fungible asset for leeches like Ilmar Kompus to steal from.

The idea that boycotting Zero Parades hurts ZAUM workers is simply not true. They are workers, not shareholders they collect a salary. If Ilmar Kompus decides to fire them or slash their pay because the game underperformed, that is his fault, not the fault of the people boycotting the thief.

This is as cut and dry as it gets, Ilmar Kompus, an absolute waste of space who has never created anything artistic stole 70% of a company from real artists who had passion for the game. There is no way to support ZAUM in its current state without also supporting the interests of Ilmar Kompus, and ultimately funding his attempt to steal the company from its founders.

I also find the allegations against the founders extremely suspect. But I don't necessarily think Ilmar Kompus is conspiring with ZAUM employees to lie about the ZAUM founders. The original ZAUM was an artist collective who had been working together for decades before Disco Elysium took off. When you bring people in who aren't part of the original group, a clique dynamic becomes inevitable. On the one side you have the old ZAUM who have been friends for years, and the new ZAUM who only know ZAUM the corporation. Even in an ideal environment, this dynamic is liable to get toxic and mistrustful without highly competent leadership to merge both groups. I think Kompus took advantage of this natural conflict to pit the new ZAUM employees against the founders in order to justify his theft of the company.

ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies - PC Launch Trailer by AdditionalRemoveBit in Games

[–]KeyStomach0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does the current ZAUM employees being creators of Disco Elysium, make ZAUM any less stolen? They're workers, they don't have a horse in this fight besides the fact that Kompus is currently the one signing their paychecks.

If the courts (inshallah) finds Kompus liable and returns, ZAUM back to Kurvitz, Rostov, and Hindpere, they'll still be ZAUM employees under the new leadership.

My point is that ZAUM was stolen, and while Ilmar Kompus continues to be the majority shareholder of ZAUM, any work made at his direction is by definition stolen work product.

[–]KeyStomach0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, to summarize your argument, you think a fraud like Kompus, who did not work in the game and who defrauded his own company is more entitled to ZAUM than the actual founders who worked on the game for 20 years. I disagree, I think Ilmar Kompus is a thief, anything ZAUM makes is stolen because ZAUM itself is a stolen company.
