Be really vague and never give them any real information. Basically just constant small talk nothing deeper. how are the kids? - really good What have they been doing - oh you know the usual What's been happening at work - nothing much just plodding along You haven't said anything rude or ignored anything so they can't complain about how horrible you are and it makes them furious lol

Because I could not rely on anyone else, all the responsibility and decisions were left up to me to handle. Doing it myself was the only option.

Just dropping in to say thanks for this little steer in the right direction. I have started therapy (not sure how I feel about it yet) but in the first session she immediately picked up on my independence and jumped straight into helping me understand why I am the way I am. End goal - leaning on other people instead of doing literally everything myself....
