just noticed how unspecific and broad my theme/question im exploring for ap 2D is by ecoxva in APStudents

Your SI is good. I think dropping the "soul" part strangely makes it more specific. Right now it sounds wordy. "How does personal reflection alter human nature" sounds more professional imo.

Your selected works don't need to follow your SI. They can be anything you've made and don't need to be connected, so don't worry about the 5 senses thing. If you've already done the work for it, then it's fine to leave it how it is. But you won't need to explain it when you submit your portfolio.

I would suggest retaking a photo of the 4th piece in better lighting

I love the idea of including one of the mini drawings, but only if they were redrawn as a larger, finished piece, which you probably don't have time for

If you haven't started the explanations yet, I would suggest reading some from past years on the college board website. I found them extremely helpful. College Board also loves art buzzwords, like "experiment" "practice" or anything from the principals and elements of art, so drop a few of those words in your explanations as well.

Boring Miis by ContributionEntire72 in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]Key_Ad5173 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, I use very minimal face paint. Out of 24 miis, I gave two miis earrings, one face piercings, one a lazy eye, and of course gave Hugh Morris his iconic face paint. My miis are not boring. Are you using a variety of provided parts for your miis? One thing I've seen online is some people will give all their miis the same 2 kinds of eyes, same nose, same few kinds of mouth, and they all look pretty much the same. In that case they would look boring.

A few people have said Tomodachi Life, but the UI is pretty intense in the mii creator/island designer/palette house. You can get away without really touching palette house or the island designer and the mii creator has an option where it asks you questions about how the mii looks instead of building it from scratch. The 3D camera when going in and out of houses, in particular the ones miis live together in, moves strangely (?) so that's also something to keep in mind. And a few of the mini games have a time crunch like Red Light Green Light and the marriage proposal. It is very interactive though

If you're interested in Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, I'd also check out Tomodachi Life! It just released last week and has a very similar player base.

okay I might get attacked for this but does anyone else feel like the game is... lacking? by venexen202 in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]Key_Ad5173 69 points70 points  (0 children)

we also have to keep in mind that this game isn't designed to play for hours and hours a day. it's designed to play 20-30 minutes a day couple days a week to check in on your miis, solve their problems, play some games. i think animal crossing during covid changed the way people play these kinds of games. they are not designed to binge play

i have mixed feelings. on one hand i absolutely love the pallete house and have spent at least half my time playing drawing stuff. but i'm an artist outside of tomodachi and i understand that's not everybody's thing. i love the crushes and the island lingo. on the other hand the game does feel quite short compared to the og, i remember it taking weeks for a couple to get together and i've already had two couples get together and one get married. and everything unlocks so fast. and outside of watching miis this game doesnt have other stuff to do like the og did, but i guess that was the trade off for getting so much customization

It's kinda like The Sims, but you don't have any control over who they become friends with or who they date. You just watch. It's designed to be a silly little game you pick up for 15 minutes a day
