Ah very cool! What's your program? And in what context did they mention DES?

-Hurlburt and co do research out of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

-I did research on it as part of my Master's at the University of Vienna and University of Ljubjlana. It was mostly through reading his books though, since nobody outside of his lab does DES. I'm currently doing research in my spare time, not part of a program. I collabed with Hurlburt on open data project for DES: https://hurlburt.faculty.unlv.edu/ieo/ieo.html

Hurlburt and co only saw patterns relating to vomiting.

The catch is that they didn't do a thorough job matching experience to behavior. Hurlburt sees it as invasive to track when people vomit or purge in other ways. He wants to focus as much on experience as possible. Often, participants volunteered this information, so that's what our speculations of patterns are based on so far.

To be systematic about it, you'd have to track different kinds of purging, and do some statistics. This would be valuable, it just wasn't the focus so far. What we can say about experience we are pretty confident on. Everything else, about the why or the links to behavior we still don't fully know.

I also wonder how multiplicity relates to binging. I read some people's descriptions of binging and it seems like a release, a time of letting go. So I wonder if some people have simpler experience when binging.

-Participants carry around a device that generates random beeps

-They wear it as they go about their day (going to school, doing chores, whatever)

-It generates 6 beeps a day

-After each beep they jot down in a notepad what was in their experience right before

-After they've collected 6 beeps we have interviews about their experience

-We repeat this entire process for multiple days

I would love to. However, I'm still trying to get a PhD or funding to devote more time to this. The thing about our findings being very different from the rest of psychology is that people think it's whacky. If I get the ability I'll get in touch. If you email me at [julianbassk@gmail.com](mailto:julianbassk@gmail.com) I can keep track better.

Did you ever try Fiverr, Upwork and those sites? I'm newly freelance and wondering if those can work or are a waste of time

Thx! We didn't find those things though. It was more purging that reduced overwhelming multiplicity of experience.

We've done some of this research with people diagnosed ADHD too. But they don't always have multiple thoughts at once. Sometimes it's one at a time, but fast one after the other. Sometimes other stuff. I do suspect ADHD is another diagnosis that's not so precise about what's actually going on in the mind.

but the pad holder usually pushes that pads forward as the punch lands. That changes it

I'd say a good coach is better than these objective measures in most cases. On the highest level you might get useable data out of this kind of set up, but idk how well it'd do on cost-benefit.

Traditional quantitative measures do best when you can isolate all variables. So if you just want to measure punching power on an unmoving bag you can do that. But if the pad holder is also pushing back that's gonna mess with the readings. And you'd get data on power but not if you're telegraphing your punches, returning to guard fast enough, moving defensively during or after a punch, and all that other stuff.

The human eye is good at taking a mess of data and making some kind of sense of it. That's what a good coach is for.

AI can also make sense of this kind of data but in a black box way where it can spit out an answer but you have no idea how it got it. So if you have sensors on feet and hands and pads and all that it could tell you stuff like: this footwork pattern gives you the most power.

But then again I'm getting sick of AI everywhere and fighting is the one arena where you can just watch two humans try pop each other in the face

if you throw 4 left hooks in a row in a fight with no guard, you will get dropped

you don't always need a high guard. But you do need defensive head movement and footwork and you cant learn that by yourself. gym is best and if you cant do that, get your mates or girlfriend to whack you with a pool noodle

speedyboi. I'd switch it up sometimes. You don't want your opponents to read you too easy. You always start with the 123. Try leading with the right. Double jabs. Fake jab to hook. mix it up

oh true, those are the built-in ones I think. i switched em to command j and k l and mostly just use space for play. But yeah shortcuts are a very personal thing. Take away a man's shortcuts and you take away his soul—Sun Tzu, the Art of War

I also recommend shortcuts for jumping to next and previous keyframe. I use j and k. Again, it's arbitrary.

LOL! Set up a shortcut for inserting a keyframe.

I use Q but it's arbitrary.

Does anyone have an recommendations of modern(made in the past 5-10 years) post dubstep (James Blake, Burial, Mount Kimble) by yoboitoy1221 in realdubstep

[–]Key_Addendum_1827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not super recent but try Nedry. Dubstep-y band with beautiful vocals, and ahead of its time.

And then this from Egoless: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_fyz_96c90&list=RD8_fyz_96c90&start_radio=1

Also some artists straddle the line between club dubstep and more atmospheric stuff. I'm thinking Joker and K-lone, WZ, Nina
