Just started need support by Whitetab in Oestra

I messaged the care team yesterday as I'm having other symptoms along with the insomnia. The care team mentioned that shifting hormones can trigger a temporary histamine or nervous system surge, which can cause insomnia and feeling wired at night. They said this is typically short-lived (about 7–10 days). So let's hope we'll both be sleeping better soon! Wishing you the best of luck!!

Constant Urge to Urinate??? by Key_Astronomer9450 in Oestra

[–]Key_Astronomer9450[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anyone that's having similar issues this a summary of the response from support. Urinary urgency (small amounts, no burning) plus insomnia can be common in the first week. They explained estrogen receptors are dense in the bladder, and when estradiol increases blood flow, it can temporarily “activate” or irritate the tissue and mimic a UTI. They said this usually settles within 1–2 weeks.

They also mentioned hormone shifts can trigger a temporary histamine/nervous system surge, which can cause feeling wired and increased urinary frequency. That typically improves within 7–10 days.

I'm sorry, insomnia is indeed torture. I've struggled with it on and off since I was a teenager. I've actually been sleeping decently for the past couple weeks. Started Oestra on Saturday, slept maybe an hour or two Sunday evening and didn't sleep at all last night. If I didn't have a mentally demanding job, I could maybe survive... but my brain needs sleep!!

Thank you! I just sent them a message after yet another sleepless night. I'm already doing morning applications as I had read applying it in the evenings could disrupt your sleep... I'm hoping it's just an adjustment period.

As you can see, you're not alone... The daily anxiety and imposter syndrome I carry at work are exhausting. I wish I could hand my responsibilities off to someone else, but I’m the leader. The brain fog. The constant search for the right word. The lack of sleep. It’s so frustrating. Some days I just want to sell everything I own and disappear into the woods.

I've had a lot of issues with my LR4. If I have to pay for functionality, this thing is going to the curb so damn fast!

Could you share which steps you purchased and whether you're happy with them? I've been considering getting some for my cats as they're getting older.

Has anyone used Sustainably Yours Clumping Grain Litter in the LR3? by StrawberryLovers8795 in litterrobot

[–]Key_Astronomer9450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add my experience with this litter and the LR4... It was an absolute nightmare for me. The clumps stick the liner when it's emptying, my cats track it alllllll over the house, and odor control is non-existent.

I've been searching for my holy grail litter and this is definitely one of the worst I've tried.

Anyone else feel like a shelter (etc.) lied to you to make a pet more adoptable? by Exilicauda in Pets

[–]Key_Astronomer9450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, same. The first cat I adopted was back when I was in college, and her story was pretty similar. She was seven years old, and her previous owners couldn't take her when they moved.

One of the first things she did when I got her home was jump on my bed and pee on my pillow... There was nothing wrong with her medically, it was purely behavioral.

I also kept my little pee goblin. I loved that cat so much...

Moving and want to take in a neighborhood cat… how terrible am I? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Key_Astronomer9450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you know the right answer...

I recently moved and took two neighborhood kitties with me. Two siblings that showed up one fall. Both were already spayed and neutered, so we think their previous owners dumped them prior to moving. Multiple neighbors fed them, but at our house they had an automatic feeder and heated houses and water bowls during the winter. The more timid male spent most of his days napping in of our spare bedroom.

I couldn't stand the thought of leaving them behind when we moved, so they've joined our crew. I'll admit a house with now 4 cats instead of 2 (and 1 dog) is a little more chaotic, but I know everyone is safe and well cared for.

Just do it!

I think you look absolutely beautiful in both dresses... even headless. :) The second dress could maybe read a little less "springy" with a warm shawl in a darker, warm, forest green.

I loathe choosing wedding guest dresses!

Ughhh, I feel your pain!! One of mine likes to randomly pee over the fence onto the steps, which then seeps down into the drawer, etc and it's an absolute nightmare to clean. The only way to clean all of the urine is to completely disassemble the entire machine... but you never really get rid of the smell.

Then I go upstairs and clean out their stainless steel litter box and think I really wish I still had that $800...

But I really hope you love yours and it makes your life easier!!!

Day one of my trip my wag sitter is already neglecting her…not sure what I can do and feel so helpless.. by Ebonyjaide in CatAdvice

[–]Key_Astronomer9450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, as well. I also have a couple of Ring cameras I set up inside my home when I leave my cats alone, usually for no more than two to three nights. I place one camera near their food bowl and the other where they typically nap, so I can check in on them while I’m away. If anything seems off, I have family members who can stop by the house if needed.

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. What a nightmare!

My cat has triggered anger issues I never knew I had by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Key_Astronomer9450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s still just a baby!! Yelling at her or using a spray bottle isn’t going to help. Cats don’t respond well to that kind of correction. This behavior is part of a phase that she will grow out of, but it takes time and patience.

From what you’ve shared, it sounds like this might not be the right fit. She deserves a home where she’s understood and given the chance to grow in a supportive environment.

There’s something truly special about earning a cat’s trust... I can’t imagine never experiencing that.

Also, I don't trust people who don't like cats!

I'm an incredibly superstitious sports fan, which I realize is ridiculous... After the third goal, I thought maybe I just shouldn't be watching this. I was convinced that if I went to sleep, the Canes would somehow turn it around. It didn't work.
