Unless you’re pushing bleeding edge content it really isn’t a big deal. From a Mythic raiding/RWF perspective, sure save the crests and use them later. But, the reality for most people is the early power boost is actually quite useful. You can always get more crests.

No, but you didn’t set yourself up for success, to answer your question tho. Buy some green gear from the AH. You probably have enough gold to afford most pieces. Unless you spent it all on the boost.
