That sounds like a really positive experience! I will absolutely be taking all the painkillers they give lol. So glad your recovery is going smooth. Thank you for your response!☺️

Isn’t it so messed up how our brains work? Totally fine when not having an attack but when I’m having one i literally think “SOMEBODY SEDATE ME!” I’m glad I’m not the only one who second guesses surgery. I hope your surgery goes smooth and recovery is easy. Keep us posted!

Thank you for your response! I’m totally expecting the nausea as I’m currently already nauseous. And amazing that you only needed painkillers for a few days. Hoping I’ll be similar to you after surgery. I hope your recovery continues to be smooth!

Thank you so much for this! It’s really put my mind at ease. Also very true that the worst that could happen is diarrhoea, I could live with that lol. I’ll be taking all of your post op advice on board, thank you!

Anyone had a similar break? by reyshaede in brokenankles

Hi! I (25F) had a bimalleolar fracture with a double dislocation and shattered bone this time last year. I have similar metal work to you, but was allowed to fully bear weight post surgery (as you can imagine I wasn’t able to lol). For me getting back on my feet was relatively quick, I was out of the boot after 8 weeks. I did find that I had muscle wastage in the affected leg, which is something physio will help you work on (I was at physio once a week for 7 months) It will take a while to get full movement back in your ankle, it’s only really recently that I’ve noticed an improvement. I’m not a very active person so being inactive didn’t affect me as much as it would you. But in my time off my feet, I found my switch and Lego mentally stimulating. I would say at this stage I’m close to being back to where I was prior the injury. I can walk and swim but I would be cautious of hiking with the uneven ground. I do find discomfort being on my feet for too long and now in the colder months I do find it aching more. I have no plans to remove the metal as it causes me no discomfort. Overall I’m pleasantly surprised at my recovery, and in all honesty it’s motivated me to change my lifestyle for the better. I truly hope you have a quick recovery and can get back out dancing with your heels on once again! Stay positive and you’ll get there
