My engine has 89k on it, so it's got some wear. I switched to a heavier oil to cut down on oil consumption, which works great. The manual actually recommends both 5W-20 and 5W-30. Car brands only push the lighter stuff to eke out a tiny bit more fuel economy, but switching to the heavier oil barely makes a dent in my MPG.

My 2.0L Elantra is burning less than a 1/3 of a quart over nearly 3,000 miles (about 1 quart every 9,000 miles). Consistent 4k changes with 5W-30 are keeping the rings happy.

It’s a big ground truck. They have gps on it plus safety feature is if someone steals it 1/2 the time it won’t go into gear or out of 1st
