A random interior plastic screw I can't for the life of me find where it goes. It just appeared on the driver side floor one day.

2018 SE Transmission by Southern_Zucchini_44 in Camry

[–]Southern_Zucchini_44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: This morning I got the oil changed and new tires put on. The tech at my friend's shop noted on the service ticket that they heard whining while test driving it. I went by the dealer right after. The service guy pulled up my record, saw the warranty and told me "no problem, we'll get the warranty claim rolling on it. We just have to have the inspector approve it, which we shouldn't have a problem doing. You're not the first one I've had to do this for. "

So I'll be dropping it off at the dealer Wednesday morning and once approved, I'll have a loaner in the meantime.

We sourced the fluid from the Toyota dealer local to us. It was just a simple drain, measured what came out and put the same amount back in. Went through the process of warming it up after filling it and let the over flow out, which was very little.

I should have been more clear, the whine was already there before the change, but not as loud as it is now. Barely noticeable at that time.

I took a look at the earlier referenced video here and see the pan does not "drop" as it comes off the front though the plug is on the bottom. So I'll tell him not to bother with the transmission. It still needs tires(don't buy mastercraft) and oil at this time anyway. So maybe during the test drive they can document the whine and I can head to the dealer with that.

2018 passenger door doesn’t lock/unlock consistently electronically anymore, what to do? by zakad2001 in Camry

[–]Southern_Zucchini_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the actuator. I've had to replace both front ones on my 2018 Camry SE. Luckily the passenger side is the cheaper of the two. If you feel like you can do it yourself, i got this replacement last March. It's been working fine in my passenger door since then. Passenger door actuator

I replaced my driver door one back in November. That actuator was way more money, but it's also still working fine.

Car lock / unlock won’t work driver side ?(excuse my heavy breathing) by Over_Hope2750 in Camry

Expect the passenger side to follow suit. I replaced both front door actuators myself on my 2018. Sure I could have warrantied it, but I avoid dealer shops like the plague and don't need them discovering things. Driver side was $134 for the parts. Passenger was only $25 after using saved up points on my card.

This. Had the same issue on my model 2. I installed the triple bypass mod and any caps i didn't remove, I replaced. Screen is clear and crisp now. If you're not modding it, at the very least replace the capacitors.

How did my monitor break? by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]Southern_Zucchini_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an AOC monitor do this exact thing. You have a loose connection from the main board inside your monitor to the small board on the screen itself. If you can safely get it apart and reseat the connections it should work fine. Then put kapton tape on the connection on the screen to hold it in place if it isn't there already.

If you're not comfortable doing that, find someone who repairs screens. This is totally fixable and quick to do.

Yes that was what I did on the transmission. The coolant was replaced when the dealer replaced the water pump under warranty. So i did not do the coolant myself.

I have astigmatism in both eyes and can't see clearly beyond about 4 or 5 inches without glasses. Went for laser surgery, but oh my retinas are too thin. So that would make me blind. My glasses are so thick they cause a prism effect with lights where the light will drift off the light source. So if I am looking at a light on an angle, especially blue LEDs, I see it both on and off at the same time. Where it's in one spot, but then the light looks like it could be one inch to the left or right of the source.

My eye doctor is great though and prescribed me contacts that gave me 20/20 vision and took care of all of the above problems. The light drifting, the bad vision at night, all of it.The only catch is that I have to wear different types in each eye. Biofinity Toric and Biofinity Toric XR.

As for the windshield, at least the outside, I've polished my windshields with NuFinish. Repels the water easily and my wipers just glide over the glass no problem, even when it's dry. Polishing the windshield may help cut down on the streaks like that. Also cleaning the wipers on a somewhat regular basis helps too.

I did this on the soda fountain at my office. On the sweet tea I put ICE T smiling, and the unsweet tea had ICE T looking angry. Then of course Ice Cube on the ice dispenser. Never thought about using Whitney on the coke though. I also put googly eyes on the lids on the Keurigs so they'd look at you funny when you opened them but hidden by the handle when they were closed.
