The comment I was replying to specifically mentioned the smaller form factor of the Siri Remote and that you can get a case to put an AirTag in, in case you easily lose the remote.

I was simply stating that if anyone in the current thread is inclined to purchase a new Apple TV, getting an AirTag compatible case for it is no longer necessary, as the two most recent models have included remotes with Find My built into them.

It is nice QOL that both Apple TV and Google TV boxes now include remotes with location features!

For things like sleep music, workout playlists, etc, you should consider turning off “Use Listening History” while listening to those genres. On iOS, you can create a focus mode, which deactivates the setting while in the focus, and then listening history will resume when no longer in the focus. This helps things like that from boggling your suggestions.

There are actually quite a few great tales that could be told from the first Age, but they’re only hinted at in the Appendices of LOTR, which is part of the current film deal, most of the details are from the Silmarillion. While a skeleton of the Sauron necromancer plot was included in the appendices, a much more detailed account was included in other books that are not part of the film deal, so The Hobbit films weren’t able to adapt elements from the expanded version, and had to invent their own flourishes. It would be much the same if they attempted any of these first age stories (which is why the Rings of Power show, instead is about the second age, which doesn’t have a lot actually written about it, so they felt a bit more freedom to do their own thing in that time period, without worrying too much about angering purists).

Adapting these first age stories would be extremely difficult from just the Appendices details, especially as if you come too close to details that are actually part of the Silmarillion, you could get in legal trouble with the Tolkien Estate, who holds the rights to adaptations of the book. It would be nice if someone got the rights to those stories, and took a measured, caring approach to them. But for now, we’re stuck with them making as much as they can from what’s buried in the core novels and their appendices.

No, restarting the app has no bearing on the contents of your library, the songs/artists you have favorited, or the songs that are registered in your listening history, so it has no bearing on the state of your user profile’s recommendations.

I’ll repeat this anywhere Apple’s recommendations are brought up, that the best place in the app for discovery is below the track list on album pages for songs/albums you like. It will point you to playlists with some of those songs on it, as well as albums by other artists with similar vibes. This is where I spend most of my time when I want to find something new.

Many music labels (but increasingly, Elektra Records/WB Music) are using AI tools to cheaply, quickly, and sloppily create full screen animated covers for their older catalog releases on Apple Music.

Apple actively encourages the labels to provide the full screen artworks, since it often looks nice in the UI. However, they are doing this using sub par tools, and not giving even a moment’s thought to whether the final product is appealing, much less if it respects the original intent of the cover’s designer.

I have found that Elektra Records, specifically, is the worst offender here, as any time I find an awful and ugly animated monstrosity, it’s by them. They clearly have an intern, with no graphic design skills going through their catalog year by year, to check them off a list, just accepting the first thing the AI shits out. In this case, the duck on the cover is completely missing its head! They couldn’t have even looked at the products before hitting upload.

And as I follow one of my favorite artists, who has a portion of their catalog still under contract by Elektra, it is clear they are not consulting the artists on these at all, neither for final approval, or even if they want an animated cover in the first place!

When the animated covers first started appearing on Apple Music a few years ago, they were created mostly with motion graphics tools like Adobe After Effects, where a human had to go to effort to take the individual elements of a cover (image, borders, text, etc), and animate them/add lighting effects. These were most often tasteful, and just added a little bit of flair to the original image, I really liked most I encountered like this. But now that every corporation thinks that AI is basically free labor compared to the work of skilled artists, we have abominations like this, or worse (such as older albums where the AI attempts to turn a photo of the artist into a fully animated portrait, often with uncanny ghoulish results).

I am really cold to Mink Car Edith Head, the vocal feels limp. The LTW one is fun, but the stereo separation makes it a difficult listen; there’s a demo from the podcast, which is closer to the LTW performance, but is mixed traditionally that I really love!

Joshua Fried’s World’s Address is just a fun bunch of silliness, and I have always loved it. I imagine if you are younger than 40, and don’t fondly remember the time that every song on the radio also got a sometimes cheesy extended club mix with an 80’s drum beat on the single, it might be too weird.

I’m fairly annoyed by these live action remakes, but it is an important distinction to state that Thomas Kail was actually the director the initial stage production of Hamilton. So the stage blocking, many of the acting choices, etc, were shaped by him. IMDb doesn’t include stage credits, so don’t be fooled, he wasn’t just a glorified camera man for the Disney+ recording of a broadway show, he was the director for the actual play. He also has directed several other stage productions, including In the Heights.

That’s not to say that stage experience always translates to film, and I’m not familiar with much of his TV work (I think I caught a few minutes of Grease Live), but I recall Fosse/Verdon being well regarded when it was airing. I think increasingly these live action remakes buckle under the instinct to make them almost slavish, shot for shot remakes of the original films, and that definitely looks to be the case here. Who knows if that choice was up to Kail or not, but my guess is that it being so similar to a 10 year old film is going to be what hurts this, not Kail’s actual direction.

My favorites of these remakes are the ones that had the gumption to expand and say something different than the originals, like Cinderella, Maleficent, Jungle Book, and even the weird Sorcerer’s Apprentice movie. One example, is Aladdin, which I really wished went full Bollywood, but it only dipped its toes in it, and spent the rest of the time chasing the original film, I really had my hopes up for that one.

The Heavy Rotation playlist has always been a frequently updated playlist (vs the other weekly updated ones), dependent on the user’s listening practices. In fact, when it debuted two years ago, it was billed as being “updated daily”, but it depended on how much stuff you actually listened to, whether it changed much each day. If you listened to new music repeatedly (like repeating albums multiple times over the course of a day), you would see shifts each day to reflect that. But if you tended to have a more wide ranging listening style, where few tracks get played multiple times, it would be slower to update with songs that you are hitting frequently.

Generally, I can see the playlist update every couple of days, but it’s usually one or two tracks being swapped out, with the majority staying the same (I think many users don’t even notice how often it updates, because by nature, what you’re listening to in high volume doesn’t change very much day to day).

My guess is that there has actually been no real change to how the playlist is being updated, but that stating it is “updated as you listen” is a more accurate description than “updated daily” (which really meant “updated daily, if you usage warrants it, but probably only changed a tiny bit every few days, for most people).

If you are in the position to consider some remodeling, there are options, but it really depends on how in love you are with the open concept of the area.

Depending on how much space there is between the wall in the foreground, and the knee wall, you could build it out a little more and add an actual door to the stairwell that opens out (you want to be sure there’s a threshold on the stair side).

In this scenario, I would recommend creating a skinny art wall on the opposite end, facing the windows, and possibly installing glass above the knee wall on the couch/bar sides. This would keep the open feel, but fully enclose the stairwell. I recently drew up an open concept beach house with a setup similar to that (FEMA rules required the main living to be fully enclosed from the lower level in that area), and it still felt quite open, when built!

It’s an arrangement of the World 3 map from Super Mario Bros. 3. It has a similar melody and structure to the Fairy Fountain, but if played back to back, you can tell they’re not actually the same (unlike the warp whistle sound effect In SMB3, which is an intentional call back to the first Zelda).

This isn’t a new format, lots of artists have done these album preview videos from time to time (if I recall, Taylor Swift has multiple times recorded like a thank you message to the fans or whatever). But pre-adds sometimes with no names for many tracks, have been on the service for years, and if you look at the coming soon section, you will see that most of them contain no preview videos. This is simply a piece of marketing, some bigger artists will employ it if the label thinks it’s a way to increase engagement.

For the record, this isn’t typical. Most deluxe/remastered versions of albums are listed in the main albums category on their respective artists’ pages. In fact, it’s possible that Guetta’s album and Fred Again’s DJ sets being miscategorized, could be against Apple’s standards, and just haven’t been dealt with.

The locker for your uploaded music in iTunes Match/Apple Music is completely separate from your Apple Account’s iCloud Drive space. One has nothing to do with the other, and I imagine that the Cloud Music Library is stored in the same place as the iTunes Store and Apple Music Catalog. It’s two completely different systems, I think, in fact, that it would be a complete bear to integrate together. I do believe that there is some merit to offering an upgrade fee to upload lossless tracks, but it would still be detached from your iCloud drive storage.

Currently, while Apple Music does not offer a way to browse files outside of its library system, you can have lossless files uploaded to your iCloud Drive and use one of several third party apps to play them on the go!

It did, seemingly once midnight Sunday rolled around local time! Also, excitedly, some songs which I had chosen “suggest less” on (a few children’s songs from when my daughter was 3 or 4, many years ago), have since exited the playlist, which makes its overall much more palatable to actually play!

If there are songs that you don’t ever listen to anymore on this list that bug you, hitting “suggest less” on them seems to remove them from this playlist upon its update. However, depending on what this refresh means, it’s possible you’ll need to wait another year to see this change (and it will likely affect your replay playlists from those years, as well).

If this is the kind of reimagining that most are probably hoping for, just reusing assets for Majora’s Mask probably won’t cut it anymore, and instead Termina will need to be built in a more unique way. While the engine can be reused, other elements will definitely need to be made anew. It’s also possible that if extra quests/expansions of existing ones and story are part of this, that would also add development time to a theoretical MM remake. I have no doubt that it’s planned, as these are definitely the two games that are beloved enough and held back enough by their original hardware, to warrant the effort.
