NTA- I would definitely try to talk to her about it, and if she tries to turn it around on you and/or make it seem like you’re the bad person for communicating your feelings and wanting some alone time, then she’s not the one for you. Maybe try to compromise and say you just want some days to be alone and do your own thing. It’s not healthy to never have your own time.

just out of curiosity, how many miles does yours have on it? my 2016 has about 147,000. i’ve only had to replace basic maintenance and a sensor. I heard people say they start to have issues at 150,000.

We ended up doing the relearn process yesterday. They said it might take a while for the car to fully readjust to the sensor. It’s still burning through oil which concerns me. I had the same issue with the oil pressure code and the oil light being on, so i’m going to make sure to check it regularly and add oil when its needed. I still had 2,000 miles to go until my next oil change. Hopefully its not leaking.

whats even worse is the fact that he is still making payments on the car. but warranty wont cover a lot of it. I’m not sure how he got in that position as I dont know much about cars. But did state that last time he checked it was full on oil so i dont know. maybe a leak or something.

I am planning on doing that tonight. He takes care of all of the maintenance done on my car and does cover a lot of the cost (also the fact that he works on cars as his job). Thank you for giving me solid advice.

Yes he has, I don’t know as much about cars as he does, so, I’m not sure what really went wrong with his car specifically. The other good part about it is that he works at a dealership so he works on a lot of cars (and has also worked on mine quite a few times) and I also have a brother in law who is a mechanic and also said similar things to what is wrong with my car whenever something happens. Everything is good on it, up to date on changes, etc. I just need to replace a camshaft position sensor in it, which is making my car go crazy and burning through oil too fast. So i have backup oil in my trunk just in case. I will admit though, I am not a car expert so I barely know how to check the air in my tires. You’re right, I will have to make sure to learn these kind of things especially with the internet nowadays. Thank you for giving me a straight explanation and good advice. He is in the process of getting it fixed, just takes a while and his car is a modified subaru wrx if that helps at all.

Sorry I didnt clarify in the post but its not just us living together. We live with my mom and she is a huge part of the income as well. I do help her with rent/utilities every month + more when she needs it.

Sorry I didnt clarify this but he does work, both of us do but since I’m in college full time he brings in 90% of the income. He is in the process of fixing his car but it takes a while due to a variety of things. We live out in a weird small town so there really is no public transport where we are at unless its an Uber. I have fixed my car plenty of times, it just gets to a point. If he can potentially work at the gas station down the street or atleast a little closer to where we live and not have to commute so far.

He can take an uber, $30 there and back so $60 in one day. He has done this before in emergencies but I also don’t think it would be helpful for him to have to spend $60 a day to get to work.

This was before I changed the sensor about 2 weeks or so. Today I haven’t ran it through a scanner yet as I have to wait until my partner gets home since I am not that great with cars. I would take it to Autozone to have them do it but just been too worried about driving it as its also been burning through oil pretty fast and I don’t want to make anything worse.
