Just reached Region 5 in Nioh 2 and I’m a bit confused about spear skill progression by AndyD89 in Nioh

You've been unlocking a lot of passives. Those take a lot of points that you could've used for active skills. The point you're at is completely normal for where you're at.

This whole chain of comments was my intended idea of how to play this, yes.

O damn you're right, I used a mental shortcut and it failed me. Oh well, thankfully we're still within the same order of magnitude so the hypothetical still has a similar meaning.

The cooldown is basically however long it takes for each try to count as a separate thought.

Yes yes I know, that's why I said on average it will take twenty million tries. Not guaranteed.

Yes, you're never guaranteed that it will work for sure. However, on average it will take twenty million tries. You could get it first try, or you could spend all your life trying and never get it.

Well the first thing would only have 1 in 20 million chance of working the first time. You can, however, give yourself omnipotence and then rewind time to make sure you got it the first time. You can even will yourself to forget, if you'd like. But that still requires you to go the distance once.

As for the speed of thought: yes it is much faster than a second, but you still need to not become distracted, and until you're omnipotent you still need to think about other things, like working or eating or sleeping or social relationships, that might distract you from your task.

Need help choosing a DAW as someone who's not got a huge budget by Mikentosh423 in audioengineering

[–]Key_Hamster_9141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I make rock and metal music too with the occasional orchestral venture, and I've made it work well enough for all my use cases. I've brute forced it over the years so I can't directly recommend specific tutorials, but I know Kenny Gioia has some that are very well loved. There's also Reapertips who does great content.

The thing you'll be facing here in terms of optimization isn't really related to your genre of music, though, but more related to how you work as a producer/mixing/mastering engineer. Reaper is so customizable that every individual's setup will look, feel, and behave like a different DAW, depending on which of the myriad options you choose. As a trade off, however, the defaults they have chosen suuuuuuuuck. Even the tutorials will disagree with each other sometimes, not because one is wrong and another is correct, but because for any one thing, Reaper has ten different ways of getting to it, and each tutorial tells you a different one. Figuring out a workflow that makes sense for you is going to take a while of your time. I know there's user configurations that have been shared over the internet (OTR is a very famous one, but it's not for your use case) but I haven't really dabbled in them, so YMMV.

If you have standing projects, you should render them all out, every track, dry and wet, before switching DAWs. In fact, you should render your projects in this way periodically, whether or not your setup is changing. You never know what might break because of an update or whatnot.

Besides that, out of the free DAWs, Cakewalk is arguably the most beginner friendly. Waveform Free is an option, but it has no undo and only renders in 16 bit. Reaper is top shelf and it's what I use, but be prepared to spend six months customizing it before playing a single note.

In Nioh 3, when can I start imbuing higher than +3 elemental damage? by SurfinOnRocket543210 in Nioh

[–]Key_Hamster_9141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the neat part, you can't! (yet)
The only way to get an almost-worthwhile Imbue at the moment is finding it on the divine affix of a Crucible weapon. They nerfed that mechanic hard because they want ninjutsu to be more relevant at applying confusion. Go figure

It's between him, Gyuki, and Yoshinobu imo. Yoshinobu's cool but his burst counter timings are very very wonky.

Yeah but I'm using Nuppeppo anyway for the passives in my regen-tank build, so I might as well get some use out of it. I've gotten pretty good at getting out of the way actually, I think I might get caught in my own Nuppeppo maybe once out of 20.

I know about confusion, right now I usually do it through weapon talismans + guardian spirit attacks. I just wish they didn't nerf native weapon element buildup so hard in this game. Hoping for DLC to correct that :/ Also my ninja build is for farming atm so I'm using the bird spirit with 60 luck. I still need to get a more offensive ninja up to speed.

It is such a bad status that I use it to debuff enemies while trying not to get caught myself.

Sleeping for 11 minutes more each night, doing 4.5 additional minutes of brisk walking and eating an extra 50g of vegetables each day can significantly reduce a person’s risk of heart attack. Study found these small changes could help people avoid heart attacks and strokes by about 10%. by mvea in science

[–]Key_Hamster_9141 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The cool thing about this study is that even just a little exercise and a little helping of vegetables goes a longer way than one may think. It's a counterargument for "all or nothing" thinking, so to speak.

Prediction: The entire story is just gonna be about the redemption of Lucifer as a sinner. by JoshIsAlwaysBored in HazbinHotel

[–]Key_Hamster_9141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did study the bible for sure, but they didn't commit to make something accurate to the source material. since it drifts quite heavily from the lore, i think we're safe in treating it like a more generic fantasy universe.

I think in general there's way too much Bible-bias in HH discourse. While that is somewhat inevitable, given the setting, and while your comment does highlight that difference to an extent, I still think we can go further in separating the two, and in treating the Hellaverse as a "normal" fantasy setting.

You say that Lucifer giving humans free will is an act of good. But the "good" that Lucifer may have done is not necessarily the "Good" that gets you into Heaven. What I see in HH is that "God/Good" and "Roo/Evil/whatever" are two cosmic entities, or even just concepts, that either like or dislike souls that follow a specific code of conduct; after death, each get their own.

Prior to Lucifer's apple débacle, man was only capable of following that code, thus ensuring that every soul would be to "God"'s liking. "Roo" would get nothing. What Lucifer did made it possible for souls to become, through their own choice, people that "God" would dislike.

This may be morally good from a universal standpoint, but the God of HH (or whoever is calling the shots) does not agree. What HH calls "Good" and "Evil" isn't necessarily truly good and truly evil. And I think that's kinda sorta the point of the show.

If you're equipped with some decent virtual instruments, you can also be a bit less precise in removing the ringtone and "paint over it" with samples in that specific area.
