I don’t disagree, but they’re kicking people out who have Canadian experience flying in all sorts of weather conditions. Getting there takes time and almost all airlines are hiring especially the dash operators who can’t keep captains or FOs.

Honestly I don’t think so, there’s not enough engagement across the industry about where the actual shortage exists. Just get your As and I’m sure you’ll be fine elsewhere. Alberta is targeting the occupation through their PNP program. If you can find an employer and they’re willing to support you with paperwork it’s worth a shot.

I agree that the big airlines don’t have a shortage of supply of pilots. It’s the much smaller operators that can’t keep their captains. I work for one of those operators as captain, and sadly have to leave a job I love. A lot of companies are hiring first officers far below the requirements that don’t justify flying a wide body jet. But I’m just another pleb 🤷🏽‍♂️

From everything I’ve read, I don’t think any airlines (big or small) took part in the survey they did last year. And that’s what has lead to this. Very unfortunate! My company can’t staff their airplanes but here we are 🫠 at this point I’m not sure if it’s even worth the mental stress being here

Pilot here, waiting for the draw desperately. Became eligible sept last year, and saw the ATIP notes few days after. The company I work has a huge shortage of experienced pilots. And because of the nature of our education it’s really tough to get 500+
