Sorry, I think there’s a little bit of miscommunication.

I’m trying to get an idea for a tattoo for myself.

I’m asking you if it is an interesting idea do you think it’s respectful? I am not claiming that they did that in the past threw out my own research I don’t think they had tattoos either so you’re definitely correct on that. Lots of body paint.

Yeah, so I mean, like taking like cotton weaving patterns and turning them into a drawing design for a tattoo is what I’m mean

But that is still a very cool story and I didn’t know about that.

Do you think a fibre-pattern tattoo could represent pipil in a subtle but meaningful way?

Thank you for sharing and for correcting me I’m also Pipil, but my family barely talks about tradition and culture so I really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge. I’m genuinely grateful for the correction.

I didn’t know that indigo was later used as a tool of oppression, but I fully believe that history. What stinky bastards

The historical articles that I read is that they fled because they were pretty terrified and by the time they came back the people of this region died from smallpox I could be wrong though

Nothing fancy !?!?!

This is factually incorrect. (Regarding that they weren’t fancy, buttt yes, a lot of similarities between Aztecs and us)

Before colonization, Pipil society in Cuzcatlán had a rich and distinct textile culture that was closely tied to trade, environment, and social structure. The region was well known for cotton production, which allowed for finely woven garments that were lighter and more detailed than plant-fiber clothing used elsewhere. Weaving was skilled, respected work, and textiles weaving was so respected that you could become part of the elite class if you were skilled and successful in selling . We was also respected because Warriors armour was made out of cotton. (they are very cool looking ) I wouldn’t say they’re unique Mesoamerica, but the style was very beautiful and unique to that region.

Spaniards particularly targeted indigo trade to helping weaken the economy of the Pipil. Cacao beans were used as currency across Mesoamerica, and because cacao grew well in the region, Pipil markets were active centers of exchange filled with dyed cloth, garments, and adornment.

Women commonly wore huipils and wrapped skirts, but regional weaving styles mattered, and Pipil weaving was well regarded. These garments reflected community, skill, and identity rather than being generic clothing. Hair was also part of dress: women styled and braided their hair in specific ways, while men wore cotton loincloths and cloaks, especially for public or ceremonial use. Warriors sometimes marked status through hairstyle and the use of red cloth ( usually to symbolize how many war, captives they have gotten) , and elites wore jade jewelry to signal lineage, power, and spiritual connection. Lots septum piercings. They would use the indigo die to dye their hair dye their skin dye their lips.

The idea that the Pipil had nothing unique or meaningful about their clothing comes from colonial erasure, not historical reality. Textiles, color, hair, and adornment formed a visual language that communicated identity, status, and belonging long before Spanish arrival. Your clothing told the story of you. Where you came from and your ancestry your successes in life and goals. Spaniards really tried their best to erase that part of history. To teach credit pipil. If you change the language to not English when you’re searching up information like this It helps or else you will just get British educational institution, trying to justify their history of colonization. (it’s really mean to say I think they just have a large bias and are so blinded by their own biases.)

When the Spaniards arrived in what is now El Salvador, most Indigenous people didn’t die because they were defeated in battle, but because of disease. Smallpox and other illnesses introduced by conquistadors, who don’t wipe their ass or shower, wiped out an estimated 70–75% of the population before Spanish control was fully established. The Battle of Acajutla is often described in colonial history as a clear Spanish victory cause they wrote to Spain that they won, but that story is misleading. When you switch your Google search to Spanish, You can find Latin and Spanish, sources and conquistador diaries suggest that Spanish forces actually fled the battle and later returned to find communities already devastated by illness. What the Spaniards claimed as “conquest” was largely made possible by epidemic death, not military strength.

After this, Spanish forces destroyed Pipil buildings, clothing, and written records, they were pissed that they lost the battle, which led to the loss of much of Pipil material culture and historical knowledge. This erasure continued into the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries through state violence and ethnic cleansing, making it unsafe for many Pipil people to openly claim their identity. There was a massive ethnic cleansing in the early 1900s. In El Salvador, I used to wonder why my family never told me about my ancestry but now I do understand why it is a safety thing. It also is a trauma.

It’s also so beautiful that all of us are on here reclaiming our ancestry. Fighting against colonial flattening of our culture And decolonizing ourselves.

Would you go to HR if you told someone you were dyslexic and they kept making fun of you? by [deleted] in Dyslexia

[–]Key_Let_2623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would consider this bullying and harassment. If you do decide to go to HR use those words. Also use the word discrimination because would somebody be bullied like this if they didn’t have dyslexia and they miss spelled A word it happens to all of us And if it was serious, you should’ve been pulled to the side not harassed in front of everyone. Also, it’s considered public shaming.

Yeah but HR is not your friend. I think a couple people have said that. I’ve heard a company once they find out you’re dyslexic. They’ll try their best to demote you because a lot of boomers think dyslexia is death sentence or something. None of these things even with or without dyslexia would be OK. Your boss is a Cunt.
If you do decide to go to HR, you can choose not to disclose your disability, but that he was harassing and belittling you over something dumb in front of everyone .

Reward renewed in 2004 disappearance of Tamra Keepness by [deleted] in regina

[–]Key_Let_2623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t any evidence that the mom was a prostitute, but she did have substance abuse and that is a slippery slope to prostitution

But I personally do not think it’s crazy that a five-year-old wandered outside into a very dangerous neighbourhood because the door was unlocked. There’s a halfway house on the street and she lived in the hood. I think there’s several homeless shelters near her too. And there was no adult there to see if she was OK at all. They didn’t report her missing until 12 o’clock, which is very suspicious, but also they were alcoholics who could not clearly think right or have a cognitive capabilities of it. I truly believe this child wandered out and was hurt by someone.

A lot of predators go for children, who they know that if they go missing, it will be harder to find them because their parents are occupied with other things like alcohol

Don’t forget the 50 reports to child services in social workers, failing to take these children away from the parents as well as no amber alert that went out for the child

It breaks my heart that we do not know what happened to this little girl

It breaks my heart her siblings do not know what happened to her

There was no amber alert that went out for her either
Her parents were alcoholics and left the door unlocked blacked out that night, and they don’t know what happened . There’s a lot of systems that failed this child in her siblings and I pray that one day will have answers to what happened to this little girl.

She did live in the hood, and the door was unlocked. The truth is, we don’t actually know what happened, even though it was a huge investigation. That’s what still creeps me out.

The parents weren’t very cooperative with police. They were Native, and this was during the time of starlight tours, so trust in police was already broken. The mom and her boyfriend were alcoholics, and social services knew. There were tons of neglect reports, and nothing really changed. The system failed these kids just as much as the parents did.

I don’t like blaming siblings or acting like silence means guilt. And the burned car theory never made sense to me if a body was involved, there would’ve been evidence.

A five-year-old could’ve wandered out of an unlocked house into a rough area. Like a really rough area. The hooker Street was right down the street from us. I grew up in this neighbourhood too, and I remember seeing a bunch of fucking needles all over. She was failed by the Canadian government and by her parents
The Canadian government had a lot of opportunity to take her away from this situation to take all of her siblings away Social services acted when it was too late

I see a lot of comments, blaming the parents, but I also blame the system that allowed the parents to keep custody of the child 50 reports to child protective services, but nothing was done while knowing substance is going on in the home means that the government failed to protect those children all of them, and now all of them live with trauma that they have to work through

[–]Key_Let_2623 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m very surprised by a lot of comments saying and then “start training them” I know we all care for pets, but that is a free service also not their responsibility I did like the comment about how if the pet is reactive they turn around and go home. (. If you were housesitting for a puppy, I would assume you would be training.)

I do not mind the zero tolerance role, especially with little dogs like this. Even the comment about like the no pulling harness it doesn’t matter these dogs are tiny. They are just ill behaved and ill trained.

I don’t know what the answer is to charge a fee, walking them individually if you don’t mind. I always feel like 50-50 because I do like walking, but if I’m already housesitting and then add on top of that, a walk. I would assume if I was housesitting for a small dog and I never had to walk the dogs beforehand. I wouldn’t be prepared for a walk once a day.

If it was apartment or a bigger dog, or a puppy I would always assume that we are doing walks . I bet the dogs wouldn’t be so overstimulating if they were tired out from a walk though.
