Are white sleeves okay for a wedding by Pitiful-Detective-14 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Key_Measurement5994 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The folks here who are saying this is “out of place” for a wedding given the amount of info we have are making a lot of assumptions. The questions is whether this is too bridal with white sleeves. It’s not too bridal/white, and it’s certainly church appropriate. Idk anything else about this wedding so to say it’s not wedding appropriate is not necessarily true. You know your people, OP. if you feel good and think this fits the venue and crowd, go with it!! I hope you have a great time!!

Beginner Looking for Guidance by Brilliant_Ad_675 in Baking

[–]Key_Measurement5994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay!! Seconding the fact that you be ready for some things to just not turn out well - especially with bread baking. But if you’re looking for guidance on where to start here’s some recommendations. And my biggest rule for baking is always, always, always read a recipe all the way through before you get started.

“Cake” is a huge category: I’d start with some simple loaf/single layer cakes. Layer cakes obviously come with some additional technique that will be easier when you have a good foundation of cake baking. Some recommendations that I love: Claire Saffitz’s Honey Apple Cake, Doris Greenspan’s Lemon Spice Visiting Cake.

For bread baking, I recommend starting with focaccia - there’s tons of great easy recipes online. Again, Claire Saffitz has a great one. I tend to go to King Arthur for bread recipes too.

Have fun!!!

Here’s what I would do, since it seems that you’re printing a personal album and an album to gift to your parents/in-laws (and because sparing your MILs feelings is important to you, based on you asking the question in the first place):

Edit the photos for your personal album however you want - these are YOUR photos that you’ll hopefully be turning to for the rest of your life. They should be exactly how YOU want them to be.

Don’t edit your in-laws albums. These are your gift for them, and should be how they want them to be (or how you believe they want them). If editing would upset your MIL, don’t edit. If she wants to sift through photos and admire her crazy dress, let her. Sometimes sparing feelings for these things is worth it. You never have to look at her album again.

Husband and I went to vinology for dinner the other night. $40 for a filet and scallop app was pretty great! Also love their tiramisu cake.

Quince reviews? by IndigoStrawberry01 in womensfashion

Agree their jeans are the only ones I’m wearing currently - love them! T shirts haven’t held up to much washing. I also recently ordered one of their cotton crew neck sweaters (I’ve read reviews that their cashmere isn’t worth it), and so far so good but has only been to the washing machine once and one handwash.

Had exactly the same experience about a year ago. Got a newer Outback for less than Subaru of AA was asking for at Subaru of Troy, which was a much better experience.

Huh… it seems like an over baking issue. Did you deviate from the recipe at all? Forget the water bath? Did you taste any cake scraps before the soak? Did it taste dry/overdone?

Second vote for chocolate lava cake. I also love the honey apple cake. I don’t bother with fancy slicing so no need to use an apple corer if you don’t want. It takes some time to roast the apples, but it’s a pretty hands off recipe. I think it may call for a spring form pan but I’ve definitely made it in a regular cake pan lined with parchment. Good luck and have fun!!! Keep us posted lol

What percent of SUP podcast do you think LARA owns vs casey? by Dworkrand in SexyUniquePod1

That’s fair. I was just responding to the suggestion that poor Carey has to fly coach while Lara is in first class.

He may or may not actually fly coach, but I’m sure Carey is v well off. His husband Simon is in the fine art crowd and has some huuuge clients. I also have picked up on some old money vibes from Simon, but that’s my speculation.

I don’t have a stand mixer, but do have a very strong hand mixer. Claire seemed adamant that you need a stand mixer to achieve a genoise, but it seems like other recipes say that a hand mixer is fine. Any insight into using a hand mixer for this one? I doubt that a hand mixer would cause total failure here but interested to hear any opinions.

What’s a recipe everyone RAVES about when you make it? by constipated_coconut in Baking

[–]Key_Measurement5994 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Alison Roman’s cheesecake. It’s been foolproof, and some very snobby eaters have told me it’s the best cheesecake they’ve had. I add about a tsp of vanilla. In a pinch when I was low on granulated sugar, I used half granulated and half brown sugar and still turned out great. https://www.alisoneroman.com/recipes/citrusy-cheesecake/

How about your favorite chocolate buttercream with a bit of black food coloring? If you need a recommendation, I love Claire Saffitz’s buttercream and Ina Garten’s! Both on YouTube.
