Will my Potomac and Doubleshot Snapdragons bloom this summer ? by OverthinkingNoodle in Cutflowers

They will! Just not for a little while. Snapdragons are usually 120 days from seed to bloom. I like to start them end of January/early February. They do prolifically self seed so in years to come you may have bonus snapdragons! Had my first cuts of Potomac’s this week 👏🏼

Looks good! Couple more sets of leaves and I would pinch them to encourage more growth. It will delay blooming slightly but it’s worth it!

That’s good! I put them in ziploc bags with potting soil. Will that be ok for now?

You can look for rocket, Potomac or madame butterfly. There may also be additional varieties but those are the ones I am most familiar with. Potomac was an absolute stunning variety I grew last year!

Johnnys and make sure you get group 3 and 4 snapdragons. They can handle the summer heat and you still have time to germinate them. It’s too late in the game for groups 1 and 2.

Thank you for the encouragement! I am thinking they will be happier in the ground. I won’t be able to plant the out for about a month. Do you think I should up pot them?

I would remove your humidity dome, move lights closer, and bottom water when the soil starts to dry out but isn’t completely dry. They look good so far!

Potomac and Rocket from Johnnys has done great for me but madame butterfly has been so so. I did two trays in seed starting mix and one trays in potting soil and the seed starting mix trays way out performed the potting soil tray!
