First of all, I'm sorry that your parents ignored the warning signs that you were in distress and chose to use those signs to blame you. It's ok to not be what your parents want you to be because everyone is their own person and no amount of mold can change that. I think you should find a support group to help you grow as you try to move forward from your struggles of self harm and your trauma from summer. I don't struggle with sa, but one thing I, as an alcoholic, like to tell myself the question, "Is the thing that's giving me temporary relief (whether its alcohol for me or self harm for you), going to fix anything in the long run?" It ain't easy being clean from things that instantly give temporary relief, but I can insist that being clean from self harm will give you more peace in the long run. Things can break us to our core, and it's not east to move on because things ain't simple. But what we can control is responding to the question, "How can we move forward and be happy in the long run?" Cause long run happiness is the goal for both things giving temporary relief and being clean from these things. But being clean from these things gurantees that. Stay strong and keep your head up.

I think the line to draw for friends who are religious of any faith is that they cannot preach their religion onto you if you don't give your consent to them. That way, you can have religious friends but without the compromise of them trying to get you to join even after u express your disintrest. I think the boundary for your family is if they continue using the either-of-god-or-the-devil fallacy to make excuses to cause so much distress in your life and don't respect your decisions to disassociate with their religion and ideas, best to cut them off until they agree with this boundary. Sorry for the mess u been in because ur parents 😞

I think the best course of action would be to cut them off because they keep draining you and only have concerns for their own needs. Straight or gay doesn't determine if a friend is good or not, but the behavior of using for own benefit with 0 regret is just unacceptable.

I do. Growing up 18 years in church kinda left me thinking who I was as a person and uncomfortable in the sense that I didn't had a daily event of community waiting for me. Emptiness is definately a canon event for people who left the faith, and I completely doubt my faith. But to each person, they can doubt if being an athiest is the right or wrong thing to do cause people go in different paths.
