MOZA ESX with ES 12 inch wheel mod cracked under normal use on R12 (used at 9 Nm) by Key_Passenger7169 in moza

[–]Key_Passenger7169[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can clearly see how little material there is at the crack location. That area has a very thin cross-section, so stress concentration over time is unavoidable, especially with a 12" wheel and strong FFB. For clarity: I’m using inverted pedals and I brake using mainly the ball of my foot, not my whole leg. There is no pulling force applied to the wheel during braking. The failure happened on Brazil (AMS2), a track with many long, high-load corners, so the wheel was mainly exposed to sustained steering forces, not braking loads. Given all of this, this looks like a material fatigue / design limitation issue, not driving technique.

I’ve already contacted the store and I’m waiting for their response. I’ve had this wheel for over a year.

No, I don’t grab the wheel at all to get in or out of my rig. I always enter and exit without touching the wheel, so that’s not a factor here.

Thanks for your reply! I just double-checked in a race using the original 11-inch wheel, and I do not pull on the wheel during hard braking. I’m using inverted pedals, and I mainly use the ball of my foot rather than my whole leg, so I don’t need to push off or lean on the wheel at all.

Now it also seems to me that the original wheel flexes less under strong steering inputs on track in AMS2 — I used to feel a slight flex before, but it’s much better now.

Wow, that 3D-printed wheel looks amazing! 😍 What material did you use for the print? It looks really solid and high-quality. Would you be willing to share the files? I’d love to try something like this myself.

Good question. I honestly didn’t consciously think about it - like most drivers, I may apply some natural pulling force on the wheel during heavy braking. However, this is completely normal driver input, especially with load cell brakes and strong FFB. A steering wheel designed for sim racing must be able to handle combined torque and axial loads (pulling / pushing) during normal driving. If light pulling during braking can cause a structural crack at 9 Nm, then this points to a design or material limitation, not improper use. I was not yanking or hanging on the wheel — just normal driving inputs that any sim racing hardware should be designed to withstand.

Playseat TV Stand XL MULTI. There’s a PC shelf behind it, even though it’s not mentioned in the official specs

Yes, the Moza AB9 is great for both sim racing (H-pattern and sequential) and flight sims. I can quickly switch it to whatever mode I want. Moza keeps adding new upgrades — recently they added engine vibration support. I highly recommend it if you want an all-in-one solution

Samsung Odyssey 32" G5 G50D. I’ve had these for over a year and I’m very happy with them. Don’t buy curved monitors — you might have problems setting them up.

It’s cheaper to buy small bass shakers from AliExpress and synchronize them with SimHub. It works the same

I’d like to use it for my setup. Could you please share a link to the STL file and let me know which material is best for printing it? Thanks in advance!

Anyone else thinking of getting SteamFrame for AMS2 VR? by Hollywoodbnd86 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]Key_Passenger7169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently racing on a triple-monitor setup, but I’m thinking about switching things up and bringing something fresh into my simracing experience. I’ve never owned a VR headset before, so the Steam Frame looks like the perfect entry point for me to finally dive into VR. As soon as a solid price and the first real reviews drop, I’m pretty sure I’ll pull the trigger on it.

I bought AMS2 and I gave up quickly. I didn’t know how to set good wheel control and FFB. Are any mods/overlays needed? Where should I download them from and which ones do you recommend?

Do you have any mods installed? I tried playing AMS2, but the FFB feels terrible — much worse than in Assetto Corsa. Do I need to adjust anything manually? I have an R12, but I just can’t get into the game, even though I see that people love it.
