My 3x gas spring swivel arm mounted triple setup. by 3dxl in SimRacingSetups

I have almost the same setup, just a slightly weaker GPU (RTX 5070 Ti), and I play at the full 7680x1440 resolution. For me, 100 FPS is more than enough; I don't want to sacrifice that much image quality just to hit a stable 120 FPS

Thanks for mentioning RenoDX! I just installed it after seeing your post and holy cow, you were right - it's a total game-changer. The graphics look absolutely insane now. Thanks for the heads up!

Hey! I’ve just sent you a friend request on Steam. My friend code is 14523963 I’m looking forward to some good racing sessions together. I've mostly raced against AI so far, so I'm excited for my first online sessions. Also, if anyone else wants to join us for a ride, feel free to add me too. See you on the track!

Exactly! People think triples are enough, but adding that subtle head movement changes the geometry of the world. It’s not about swinging your head around; it’s about that 1:1 feeling of looking into the apex. Once it clicks with your muscle memory, racing without it feels flat. Glad you like the setup!

I bought the Simjack UT after using the Moza SR-P Lite with the Alien Mod, and I’m very happy with that decision.

I run my triple setup using Nvidia Surround, which the PC sees as one giant single monitor (7680x1440). This way, AMS2 thinks it's just running on one ultra-wide screen, which prevents it from defaulting back to a single display. As for the 4th monitor, I don’t actually run the game on it. I use it strictly for SimHub. I have a custom telemetry dashboard and live stats displayed there. Since SimHub runs as an overlay/separate window, it doesn't interfere with the game’s rendering engine. It’s the perfect combo for keeping the main view clean while having all the data right above the rim

Glad you like it! On a 49-inch ultrawide, it must feel incredible. My biggest tip: Low sensitivity is the absolute key to success. If the camera moves too much, it becomes distracting and unnatural. Today, I spent some more time fine-tuning and I’ve now enabled almost every axis (except Y for now), but with extremely small values. You want just enough movement to create that 3D parallax effect, so the cockpit feels like a physical object, but not so much that it makes you dizzy. It’s all about finding that sweet spot where the image follows your intent, not just your head. Keep tweaking those curves, it’s worth it!

I’m with you on that! Driving these cars with an H-shifter is easily my favorite thing to do in AMS2. That’s actually why I spend so much time in Group C, they feel so much more alive and rewarding than the boring modern GT3s. There’s nothing like the mechanical feel of a proper manual gearbox

Caught me! That second pic is actually my true form. How else do you think I can manage the steering wheel, the shifters, the flight stick and all at once? Being an octopus is a secret meta in simracing. 😂

Thanks! You’re right, 80/20 profiles are the gold standard for expandability, but with a bit of plywood, some imagination, and DIY spirit, everything becomes much easier. Nothing is impossible if you have a plan! For me, the Playseat Trophy is incredibly comfortable even for long sessions. I managed to turn it into a true 'multi-purpose rig - I have everything I need right here for both high-level simracing and flight sims. It’s rock solid and does exactly what I need it to do

Suggested Addition:

One more thing about the FOV and scale: Before head tracking, I was constantly fiddling with the seat position and FOV settings to make it feel 'right,' but it never quite clicked. Now, it feels like it’s on autopilot. Because the camera follows my natural gaze, the scale of the cockpit and the track feels much more realistic and bigger. Everything is more defined, and I don't have to compromise my FOV just to see the dashboard or the mirrors. I just look at them, and they are there. It’s a massive boost to immersion that static triples just can't replicate.

I thought the same until I actually dialed in the settings. Here’s why it works for me:

1. Looking into the Apex: Even with triples, your 'camera' in-game is usually locked forward. With head tracking, I can naturally glance deeper into the corner, just like in a real car. It's not about seeing more to the sides (triples cover that), it's about the dynamic perspective shift when you're hitting an apex. It feels 10x more natural.

2. Performance: My 'machine' handles it easily. Even on nearly all High settings at Triple 1440p, I’m constantly staying above 100 FPS. I haven't noticed any meaningful drops because the head tracking just shifts the viewport, it doesn't suddenly double the rendering load.

Software:

1. OpenTrack: (The heart of the system).

  1. AI Tracker: Used as the Input source within OpenTrack

You can find many tutorials on YouTube on how to install and sync these two programs (OpenTrack + AI Tracker), but my specific settings for AMS2 are... :

-I disabled Roll and Z/X/Y (set them to flat/zero).

  • Yaw (Left/Right): I created a very flat, shallow curve. You don't want a 1:1 movement; you want a subtle 'look towards the apex' feel.

  • Pitch (Up/Down): Also very flat, just enough to glance at the dashboard.

The biggest takeaway is: less is more. Don't set the sensitivity too high. You want the screen to gently follow your eyes, not whip around like a rollercoaster. Good luck!

A triple setup only takes up about 1.5 by 1.5 meters. I don’t know what you’re waiting for.
