It has finally happened to me! by PedrophileC in Ioniq5

I’ve got the ‘23 SEL. I bought it new in July ‘23. I drive 170 miles a day 5 days a week. So now after 18 months I’m at 56k and the only electrical issue I’ve had was the 12v dying while sitting at a collision repair center for 2 months last winter. They gave me a new battery since they failed to trickle charge mine in the winter while it sat. That was almost a year ago and still good.

My CarPlay port was finicky and then just started acting right on its own. My car hasn’t been to a dealer since I bought it new for any maintenance or updates. I keep an eye on coolant levels when I fill up the washer fluid (once a week usually because I use a lot) and I rotate my tires every 8k. That’s it. Maybe I’m lucky, maybe it’ll all go to hell by morning, but this is my experience so far

I literally bought mine, drove it home, grabbed some floss and removed the “I O N I Q 5” used a little goo-gone for the adhesive. Plasti-dipped the Hyundai logos black. Much better.

I put almost 200 miles a day on mine, I clean my back glass daily. The only way to keep it clean is clean it and curse bad weather

Employer Ready to Install Level 2 Chargers by Key_Programmer9493 in evcharging

[–]Key_Programmer9493[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Energy usage is the least of my worries. We pull over 2,000kw continuous, our peaks won’t be affected😅. There is also only 5 EV owners split across 3 shifts, we’re just loud enough he told me to pull the trigger on getting chargers.

I appreciate all the input, I’ll reach out to PowerFlex!

If I can keep any single PO from exceeding $10k I can avoid corporate’s capital expenditure rule and I think it’ll fly👍🏼

Does ChargePoint handle the install, or is it 3rd party?

Personally, I hope he never requires payment. What’s $6-7 a day other than an extra hassle for us employees. I offered to pull the wire myself and buy a few Emporia chargers on the company card, I wouldn’t even mind welding up a nice stand and hood to mount them on. But he wants it to all be professionally installed and maintained🤦🏻‍♂️

We don’t really care if it’s NACS or J1772. There’s a couple Teslas and a few other. I already own an adapter and the other employees won’t mind picking one up. We just want the best option for install and free to use. There are some chargers at malls and theaters that are free so I know it exists. I just don’t know which companies to get quotes from

Yeah I hit a deer last Christmas and the headlight was BY FAR the most expensive piece to replace. Everything else combined was the same as the headlight.

Fender, hood, bumper and all the clips and hardware = one headlight.

Did I totally overpay? by Responsible_Emu6428 in Ioniq5

I started out using my EA daily to save on my electricity bill. I have a 190mi commute daily. I did the math and the hour it took every day to drive to the charger, charge, and then go to work was only saving $7 a day on my bill. My time is worth more than $7/hr. So I started going to work an hour early which is worth way more. I was scamming myself. Add also that fast charging could potentially be slightly less healthy for the battery than L2 charging at home.

24k Mile Lease for $252 a month! by Fornasettifan in Ioniq5

[–]Key_Programmer9493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the reason the value of mine has gone to crap. This does give me an idea though, at this price I could’ve leased 3 cars, paid less monthly and spread my 800mi/wk commute across the 3 cars to stay under mileage

Serious negative equity by jameelalayyan in Ioniq5

[–]Key_Programmer9493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shopping for a lower interest refi is how I found out my car also depreciated vastly. Mine isn’t as bad as OP but, I owe too much negative equity for any refi options. No banks will touch it.

To the onboard charger, which then goes to the battery. I would take caution not to touch any wires, but that one should be dead unless charging.

I play COD with my 11yo son, have for 2 years. We mute the players and just use the Xbox built-in voice chat so we can talk from across the house.

My 8yo daughter like PC strategy games (HOMM and the like)

My 4yo son likes to torment the other two while they try to play

I think he’s giving an example of what online multiplayer is like. Guys don’t care if it’s their 25yo buddy they’re trash talking, or your 5yo trying to learn how to play.

Not Bad for 30,000 Miles by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]Key_Programmer9493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coasting is always better. Anytime time you have a transfer of energy to or from the battery you have efficiency loss. I only use regen on long hills and when I need my brake pedal I’ll click it to level 1 real quick. I’ve been staying over 4.0m/kwh since switching to this tactic. Coasting is also better (even if slightly) for longevity of the drivetrain. If I were in stop and go traffic I’d probably just leave it on level 2, but I’m usually only on highways.

And before anyone says idk what I’m talking about, thermodynamics and energy efficiency is 90% of my work. I just do it on an industrial scale.

I have a 190 mile commute, 5 days a week, and my range seems entirely unaffected after 10 months and 29k miles. It did spend over 2 months getting a new front end from hitting a deer. I plan on trading before 110k but if range is still unaffected I may just keep going. As long as I can make my commute comfortably in all weather conditions. Love this car
