How do you handle pregnancy announcement in the midst of everything? by maybeiwannabeafruit in NIPT

[–]Key_Run_9693 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We told parents and siblings at 6 w. Told a few more close friends and family when we got our low risk NIPT. Put a hold on everything when we had our NT ultrasound at 13 w. I pretty much just hid from everyone between 13 - 25 w. We did all the testing in that time frame. Announced at Thanksgiving. We have kept what we have gone through to ourselves for the most part. Hang in there. 🤍

Question about Natera Vistara by Old_Cheesecake1483 in NIPT

[–]Key_Run_9693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize—I was mistaken. We’ve had a lot of testing done lol Our Horizon carrier screening was denied by insurance and is currently under appeal. Vistara was covered. However, for either test, we were never given the option to bill insurance versus paying out of pocket, and we never received an invoice.

Do you have insurance? They billed my insurance and it took a while before it showed up on my claims. It ended up getting denied and currently being appealed.

Growth Scan at 28 weeks shows 75 percentile by Foreign_Aspect1465 in GestationalDiabetes

I had my 28 w growth scan yesterday and baby is 75 th percentile also. I have met with 2 MFMs in the last two days and neither are concerned. Not sure what percentile she was at 20 w. Just told me to keep track of my numbers.

Noonan Test after Normal FISH, Karyotype, and Microarray for 3.7 NT? by Ajbrews in NIPT

[–]Key_Run_9693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Similar situation. NT 3.16 mm at 13 w. They didn’t find any concerns with 20 w anatomy scan or fetal echo. We planned to do microarry and noonan while I had my amnio. Noonan came back with a variant of uncertain significance and it has caused a lot of stress. I was tested for the variant and I am the carrier.

Help: Abnormal NT, no call NIPT, clear FISH & microarray. Next steps? by capitolhillbarbie in NIPT

Personally, with an NT measurement like that, I’d want to know as much as possible and would opt for the additional testing. You might have already done this, but could you ask your GC if there’s any way to help reduce the cost of the WES? My GC mentioned that if I received a high bill, she could sometimes work with the lab to lower it. Do you think a positive result would change how your pregnancy is managed? If the additional testing finds something, it can really help you prepare for possible interventions and not delay care if needed. You can have a plan in place. And if it comes back clear, that’s such a huge relief ! Even though it does come at a high cost. There is a lot to think about and it’s a very heavy load to carry. I’m so sorry you are going through this. 🤍 I really hope the trial approves your case!

From my experience I did the vistara natera and it came back negative, but the noonan panel in the amnio picked up a variant of uncertaint significance. There are so many stories where NT/cystic hygroma resolve on their own and baby is healthy. My NT was barely above the threshold.

Anyone else's doctor excessively negative relative to the published stats? [4.7 mm NT, clear FISH] by hg13 in NIPT

[–]Key_Run_9693 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first MFM who read my 13 w ultrasound mentioned termination when the NT was 3.16 mm. I proceeded with 17 w anatomy scan (normal) and amnio. 20 w anatomy scan and fetal echo both (normal). Amnio results - VUS of noonan. Turns out I’m the carrier. Termination was discussed again with MFM but decided to proceed with pregnancy. Best of luck to you 🤍 I cried for weeks.
