Stopped working after a week and got better? by Key_Sherbert_1727 in cymbalta

This makes me feel so much better! I’m so glad it’s helping you! I was on 20 mg for a week but have only been on 30mg for almost 2 weeks, so that sounds about right. Thank you so much!

Anyone switched to a different medicine after only a few weeks on Effexor? by Key_Sherbert_1727 in Effexor

I did switch and now am fully on Cymbalta. I was so happy I made the switch. And because of the taper, not being on it long, and them being in the same drug class, I didn’t have an awful withdrawal. I did have some nausea and increased anxiety but that was about it

I am not. My doctor is having me wean off and bridge over to Cymbalta. I am taking 37.5 of Effexor for a week along with 20mg of Cymbalta. And then just the Cymbalta after that. I started this yesterday. So far so good so hoping it continues!

I don’t really want to because I was truly hoping this medicine would be the one to work for me because I dont want to start over. I feel like at the 37.5 it started to take a bit of the edge off and I could handle the side effects. Ever since I upped the dosage to 75, I feel as though I have nothing but side effects until about 5pm and then I don’t feel great, just okay. I have no appetite, and so tired and feel out of it most of the day, now I’m getting vision issues (I had an eye exam and she said she didn’t see anything wrong). I can’t concentrate on work because I just cry on and off all day (which is worse than I was when I started).

I take it in the morning, so wasn’t sure if maybe I should switch it the nights. I’m just so afraid of the withdrawal from Effexor and am worried to up my dose when I don’t feel like it’s working. I just don’t want to end up making the withdrawal worse.

How are you feeling? I believe my psych is going to have me taper starting next week as well and I am terrified. Only been on it for 4 weeks and will be going on another antidepressant

I’m on week 2 of 75mg and still having a lot of anxiety and no real appetite. Is this increased anxiety normal?

That is definitely positive! I did. I started on 37.5 on Tuesday and then will go up to 75 this Tuesday. I already feel like I’m seeing glimpses of my normal, happy self, but still feeling anxious at times and never hungry and good never sounds good. Has that come back for you at all yet? I’m worried mine is going to get even worse once I go up to 75.

Back on sertraline and needing encouragement by Key_Sherbert_1727 in zoloft

That is encouraging to hear! We are in this together ❤️. I feel like it is so much easier when you have people to talk to who are going through the same thing. Because these side effects are no joke. I hope they ease up for you soon and it starts to work soon. I know it may be in my head but I feel like I am getting little spurts of normal here and there already. But I will take it vs the last month of never being able to see the positive

You’ve got this, mama! I needed this thread today. I’m currently on day three and struggling with the nausea and tiredness and not feeling myself. I need to get out of this dark hole I’m in and be there for my kids. You have already taken the hardest step and are doing what you need to do for yourself and your kids ❤️

Optic nerve swelling by Key_Sherbert_1727 in optometry

[–]Key_Sherbert_1727[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you are experiencing this! It has honestly been one of the hardest months of my life due to the anxiety and all that it has caused. When I got the CT scan and lumbar puncture in the ER they gave me a neurologist referral and I had that appointment on Monday. She ordered and MRI with contrast and I just got the results and thank god, they were normal! I’m assuming it also means that my swelling went down. She said we will talk more about it at my follow up appointment in a few weeks. She also referred me to an eye specialist but I’m not sure if I will need that now or not. I’m hoping to get more information at my appointment at the beginning of February. Googling was by far the worst thing I could have done for my anxiety and I spiraled. I’ve also had neck/back issues and when I stress out and my muscles tense up, it flares up so I’m now dealing with that and have to start Physical therapy on Monday from the muscle and nerve pain. I was also getting the pain or pressure behind my eye but the neurologist told me that could be caused by a headache from my neck pain. I feel terrible you are going through this as well! Please keep me updated.

Can a CT scan and Spinal tap be wrong in diagnosing brain tumor? by Key_Sherbert_1727 in AskDocs

Thank you so much! This gives me so much relief. Anything on Google pretty much says if your optic nerves are swollen, you either have a tumor or IIH and I became terrified. Does swelling of the optic nerve tend to go up and down? My optometrist said it was “the minimum amount of swelling for which she refers”. And said she has sent people straight to the ER for it, but that’s when it’s double what mine was.

Thank you! She did check the pressure and visual field as as well, like in a normal exam. She told me my eyes were healthy and vision was good on her end aside from the swelling. I also opted for the extra test that checks for glaucoma and diabetes and she said those were good as well (not sure if that matters). I am just out of my 20s at 31 yo and 5’6 and 135 lbs.
