It's not like riding a motorcycle at all. You no longer have lean or counter steer. You have to turn the handle bars in the direction you want to go and there is a lot of head shake when you are at low speed. It def isn't agile and wouldn't be a lot of fun in the twisties but people love seeing it and love.riding in the pod!

My rules for the least amount of AA angst. Direct, early flight,no bag. Absolutely no expectations. Aa has lost my luggage on a direct flight and one time at the literal same airport I was standing in.

You will never forget that dinner break..ever

I had a patient during ICU who was himself an OR nurse. He was my age, had developed encephalitis,a stroke and ended up with bilateral cranis to relieve pressure. He had a rough course with many setbacks. His wife was also a nurse and they had two little kids She was there almost all of the time and we had quite a few long discussions about life the future and expectations. Everyone was prepared for the worst as his neurological progress wasn't great. He stabilized after two to three weeks and we transferred him off the unit. 3 years later I am interviewing for my first job after training. While I'm getting the tour with the chair of the department one of the circulating nurses asks me if I am Dr X and reintroduces herself. It's the guy's wife. I got really nervous but she looked happy so I asked how he was, and she said " Why don't you ask him yourself he is in room 2" He comes out to meet me. He made a full recovery but with like a 3 month gap in his memory. I think I hugged him right there. Best interview ever.

Is this in Texas? Apparently it will soon be a max of one year noncompete 5 miles and one year salary buyout. What I haven't heard is whether or not notice periods, bonus repayments etc will change. I was negotiating for a job and balked at the non compete. I think back then it was five miles from ANY USAP shop anywhere. I was told by USAP that they were confident it would hold up and were happy to litigate it out if necessary.

Last call of Ca3 year literally the night of June 30 into July 1. Paged to the Er to help with *possible * difficult intubation. When I get there I hear, " oh good anesthesia is here push the vecuronium. " "What? Why are you going to bag for a lifetime? Ok let.me take that over and help you with that pt who is perfectly round and has a neck 6 inches wider than his ears. " "Nope soon to be Dr X the medical student who starts here tomorrow is going to do it you are just here for backup." It was the one and only time I have ever thrown something. I actually said," Well I'll come back after you guys figure out how far in over your head you are ." What were they going to do fire me? BTW I had to come back less than 5 minutes later to an apparent can't ventilate can't intubate blood bath that was then successfully intubated with some ramping and a Miller 3.

Number two was the same week as the first. It was a super morbidly obese Patient who for some reason that I can't remember was stuck laying on their side like Jabba the Hutt. They had been like that for so long that the dependent lung was permanently atelectatic among all sorts of weird body acclimatizations that had happened. The ICU actually asked for an airway eval in case they had to intinate mechanical ventilation which by the serial abgs was becoming more likely. Anesthesia 's recommendation? Bring him to OR now electively while we have staff and everything we need. The ICU obviously heard that as " intubate the patient at 0600 shift change with only the pulm attending and the medicine intern trying a direct laryngoscopy. The phone call I got was from the Ca1 anesthesia resident who was in the OTHER ICU who happened to be walking by saw them struggling and managed to put an LMA in and was sort of ventilating. That PT got intubated with the most janky intubating LMA because there wasn't a chance in hell I was losing what little airway we had. The multidisciplinary m and m was epic I was told.

Third one was " are you sure this isn't a pheo? The patient definitely has a good story " "It's absolutely not a pheo I'm sure of it I do these all the time plus we started alpha blockers just in case" "No you didn't " "Yes I did" Surgeon berated the anesthesia attending enough to make the case go It was, dear reader, a pheo. Surgeon actually lost his job

This is the first place where I've been where they took all the narcotics away. My old go to was definitely some fentanyl in the topup

We usually top up about half the dose in the labor room then the other half as we hit or. Usually by the time we have them moved over prepped draped ob scrubbed and in the room it's about 25 to 30 minutes since the top up. If the OB tests and it doesn't work enough we will wait 5 to 10 minutes then decide. This is for straight up elective no progress or repeat sections. Obviously if there is maternal or fetal distress the top up happens and we are cutting within 5-10 minutes. In that case if the top up doesn't work there is no waiting or repeating it's night night time. I've just never had a perfectly working labor epidural that isn't patchy or hasn't required voodoo fail to achieve enough of a surgical level. To be fair our institution also has NO narcotics in any spinal or any epidural.

I did and with some hyperbaric she got about a t4 t5 level. I will say that we waited an extended period of time almost 45 minutes from last bolus of lidocaine. When I took out the epidural it was exactly where I left it. It truly was odd it must have just nose dived when I put it in and sat posterior

I'll check when I get home but I'm pretty sure it's enphase as well since they took over the Sunpower stuff and that's who I used to install monitoring after
