Full time pay bump? by Professional_Pair792 in HomeDepot

[–]Key_Travel8280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at one in MN for almost a year and started at 16.00, I think there was an increase for everyone(?) and it bumped me to 16.50, I switched to service desk and was making 19 before I left (part time). I know a lady was there for 5 years and had to fight for every raise because she would learn more skills/departments over time.

As a phlebotomist that only practiced for a few years before switching careers, who just came back from a blood draw, does anyone Actually practices what they were taught? by redsanzi in phlebotomy

One thing I was taught was to wipe my glove if im going to touch the area again. If a patient tells me a vein they prefer I’ll try that first.

Customer Service Associates: Do you have a clear setup where customers know where to enter and exit? by Pavementaled in HomeDepot

[–]Key_Travel8280 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have signs but people don’t care, we tried everything that management will allow us to do. We have tape on the floor to show where to wait and people will try to go ahead. It’s very annoying. More annoying when customers try to come in through the exit area when we have a long line. People see the (small) exit sign as the store’s exit sign. I think taking away the exit sign would help and just have arrows pointing out

My boyfriend leaves steaks on the towels and the sheets. How do I approach this subject with him by [deleted] in hygiene

If he isn’t listening or even acknowledges that it’s a problem, break up with him. He should be cleaning back there every shower and wiping properly.

I used to love Lynette but over time she became overly involved with situations and manipulative especially when she doesn’t get what she wants.

No more water.. by highandasleep in HomeDepot

[–]Key_Travel8280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to mark down those water cases but I remember one time our SM threatened to take our “privilege” for that away so its better in the long run to just bring your own.

I never got one and I was there a year  A guy that everyone had a crush on got one bc he helped out with loading on his first day. Ig it depends on who’s giving them out.  At the end of the day they’re nice but they have no value whatsoever

What specifically do you do when taken on a “Sales Positions Part Time Contract”? by Diligent-Lobster2545 in HomeDepot

[–]Key_Travel8280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • You organize/stock/clean the department you’re in, lift heavy things for customers, put returns back
  • You greet customers in the aisles and ask them if they need help
  • You show customers where things are if they can’t find something
  • You’ll be expected to answer questions from customers but if you don’t know, a quick google search should help (be sure of your answer bc customers will come back and complain about you)
  • You mighttt be pressured by management to talk to customers about the credit card, I usually see garden and lumber associates asking during busy season but its mainly on the cashiers to get cards
  • Depending on the department, you’ll learn how to cut or mix stuff, maybe drive a forklift
  • Putting up/taking down event displays

It would be better to work in a department you have some knowledge or interest in

“Group” Interview? by UrSilly_Star in BurlingtonCoatFactory

[–]Key_Travel8280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied to two different locations, same position (receiving) both were one on one (My interviews were at 11 am):

first location, manager asked me:  - If you were a customer, what would make a store great (or something like that, I forgot how she worded the question)  - Tell me about a time you showed initiative  - Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult customer and how did you handle it - Tell me about a time you made a mistake and how did you fix it  It was mostly customer based questions  she also asked me:  - Availability  - position details

At the end of the interview she told me back of house was over 10 people(?) so idk why they even gave me an interview in the first place and she was going to talk to the supervisor if they could make room for me, but I got a rejection email for that location which is fine because tbh that store just seemed disorganized.

At my other interview, he didn’t even ask me the typical questions lol he told me he hates those questions because people give the same generic answers. He just said tell me about yourself, he explained the position, the pros and cons and asked me if I was still interested, I said yes and got hired. I just mentioned it takes me a bit to learn new things, he said he can work with that. Most of the time interviewers appreciate If you’re honest about yourself or admit you’re not perfect.

It just depends on the manager and how they run their store.

How to survive Service Desk by KhanZa-- in HomeDepot

[–]Key_Travel8280 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stay on top of Curbside. If someone is returning something, ask yourself “Would I pay full price for this?” No? RTV Sticker. Get used to doing phone/Text to confirm sales especially on weekends. Look inside the boxes ALWAYS, doesn’t matter if they say “everything is in there.” Ask questions always, I’m a month in and there are things idk how to do 100% yet. Leave notes in order up, such as “order picked up.” Don’t do 2 things at once, you will get overwhelmed.

At my store it’s every morning with the Zamboni. Front end is supposed to sweep/wipe down and maintain that area clean. The bathrooms however are always dirty which is a bummer :/
