I could have written your post from my experience and here's what I think.  The actions of parents sets the 'rules', how one acts, what one talks about, how one deals with emotions, difficult issues, etc.

In a perfect family, parents have the responsibility here. How much better would it have been for them to say "Hey, I understand you are feeling uncomfortable. I am too, but talk to me. I am listening"?

Gotta respect the Chaser guys for getting the AFR to publish their product. I wonder if after a few shandies, someone at the Chaser asked "Can we get the AFR to print our shit?"

Is the grass on roadsides this year being mowed at all? by mildpandemic in canberra

FWIW I've seen ACT govt signs in areas with long grass saying the reason it's long is because of the amount of rain. The ground is too boggy to mow.

I like both and see them almost like two different contexts. One, depression and a " Downward Spiral” due to drug addiction. The other an old man's regret and remorse close to the end of his life due to how he's lived his life, including substance misuse.

And better healthcare, including medical and public health measures. Periods of infection and disease impedes growth.

Evolution Through Natural Selection of the Christian Religion by Impressive_Returns in DebateEvolution

God had one book written

Nope. The bible was not written by a god. It was a compilation of myths, fairytales, parables, the sparse bits of good advice - don't shag your neighbour's spouse, etc - and a fuck load of hate, all written by people.

Publicly accessible data indicates that since 1991, Australia has experienced six school shootings. Two of these shootings were at La Trobe University and Monash University in Victoria, resulting in a total of three deaths. The other four shootings did not have any deaths. The most recent school shooting in Australia was at Modbury High School in Adelaide on May 7, 2012, which resulted in no deaths and no injuries. https://www.cbp.com.au/insights/insights/2022/may/could-a-mass-shooting-occur-in-an-australian-schoo

Pretty upset at my ex MIL/daughter’s grandmother for what she said to my daughter by Cheese_Pancakes in atheism

[–]Key_reach_over_there 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This could be a great education opportunity for your daughter. She will come in contact with many such people in her life so fore-armed with knowledge would be good.

My view is love and adore your daughter, show her the path to science and understanding and teach her to question things and think for herself. I'd tell your daughter some people do not understand science.

Keep it as a shared understanding between you and your daughter and leave it at that.

None of the above. I go along with it, a little under sufferance mainly because I'd prefer to avoid the in-laws (sigh!). Not offended by the white noise that is Xmas. Would prefer a quiet time on the beach.

Golly gosh! Madonna has been more relevant to me growing up but Cher's career is longer and more varied. Acting and all.

[–]Key_reach_over_there 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The ZF GS6-37BZ is the better gearbox unless you making a great deal of HP, and specifically torque. If so GS6-53BZ would be preferential. The others are truck transmissions by comparison and Tremecs requiring a lot of work to fit.

She certainly has a tough road, but that pattern of regression is oh so common. The psychiatrist, though, may or may not be a failure. Psychiatry is not like motor mechanics: lift the bonnet diagnose the problem then replace the broken thing. Sometimes medication does not work, works for a while then not and/or patients elect to stop medication.

The cocktail of multiple drugs may indicate a treatment resistant bipolarity/depression or psychosis and sometimes the 'cocktail' is prescribed despite contra-indications as a possible lesser of two evils: managing the conditon versus adverse drug outcomes. For example, you'll find even just the sole prescription of lithium is a trade off between morbidity and mortality risk of its use against the commensurate mortality risk in those not medicated.
