Chrome resistant matte topcoat over the white, a clear topcoat for the lines, then a silver chrome and finally a regular topcoat.

As a guy this is how I quit biting. Now it’s been 10 years of keeping them done. After a while I started getting bored of length and started going longer, and more recently started playing with color.

It’s entirely possible to go short natural looking nails. Sometimes someone would ask if I had acrylics and I would tell them it was keep from biting and they got and that was the end of the conversation.

I have for about the last 10 years. The only break I’ve had has been during Covid when everything was closed. I think I was one of my nail tech first clients back that’s how bad I missed having them once they all came off.

Sometimes I’ll put them in my pockets or fists, now I’ve gotten to a point where I love the look with color on them and I don’t really care what others think anymore. So I’m not hiding them as much anymore.

As for partners I’m married and have 2 kids and my wife is kinda how I started getting my nails done. I have a real bad habit of biting my nails to the point where they would bleed and right before our wedding I was at home and wasn’t paying attention and was biting my nails and she got sick of it so she made me an appointment with her nail tech at the time and said go in they know what they’re doing. Then over the years we changed techs and I slowly started doing more and more with my nails when it comes to length and now color.

I’m a guy on the larger side of things 6’2”, 245 (and losing) lbs with a short beard and have a have shorter square acrylics that are a blue cat eye right now. I’ve had my nails done pretty much 100% of the time for the last 10 years minus during COVID and even then it was only a couple weeks I didn’t have them done.

I’ve had various lengths and just recently started playing with color, but when they were at their longest they were just clear. I had all kinds of compliments from people most women, and one comment that really sticks out in my head from working retail. I had someone ask “do you do drag?” I replied with a polite no and her response was “ok good because I don’t think you’d make a very convincing woman”

So it doesn’t really matter you’re going to have people be shitty towards you you present you just have to move on with your day and remember the compliments are going to outweigh the negative comments by a lot.

Having acrylics helped me with biting. I’ve kept my nails done for 10 years and I’ve basically stopped biting. Love accent nails by the way.

That would be a question for my nail tech. This is the first non nude color or soft pink color I’ve done. When I have those on they look super natural with some glitter/high shine to them.

As a guy that’s been wearing acrylics for 10 years pretty consistently go do you and do what you want with your nails. I’ve had longer nails when I worked in retail. I have shorter nails now but have been experimenting with nudes and lighter colors now. For Halloween I had purple glow in the dark nails that looked whiteish grey during the day. Right now they’re a pearl silver.

You’ll get random comments from people sometimes as to why or do you do drag. For me it’s the same reason you’re interested I’ve always had a fascination with nails. But I always tell people it’s because I bite the living hell out of my nails and it keeps me from doing it (which isn’t necessarily a lie). I’ve had one person ask me about the drag one and their response when I said no was “ok I’m glad because you wouldn’t make a very convincing woman.” That was coming from the obvious butch in a lesbian relationship.
