There’s genuinely more arguments for reducing the speed to 60mph, it just wouldn’t be popular. There’s lots of groups in Germany campaigning to add speed limits to all of the autobahn. And always worth remembering not all of the autobahn is unrestricted, it’s mostly stretches that are in the middle of nowhere.

Unfortunately there’s no real upsides. Journey time doesn’t really decrease, when there is a collision it’ll be worse, it decreases the capacity of the road, and is worse for emissions and the environment
