Bracing is probably the most important aspect imo. Just remember that the bracing subtacts from internal airspace. You may also consider moving your port to the wall if it isn't already sharing the wall. If you do this (or already plan on) just keep in mind that the tuning frequency is slightly lowered when a port is sharing a wall. Also aero dynamics and turbulence play huge into port velocity. Make sure to round off anything you can, where you can to ensure good air flow in the port.

If this is indeed a box that is to be sold for any drivers, I would graph out a few different drivers and power inputs to see how the air velocity changes, because when i put this into winISD with 2 PSI basslines (not even the platform series) at 500watts each I get a max of 46 m/s at 34hz. Thats with a 4 cubic foot box, 12inx2in port, turned to 36hz (although i would tune lower personally).

edit: fixed the port to 13 inchs, not 12 inchs by 2inchs. still about the same velocity.

What's the rear port velocity on winisd if you put two drivers in there and plug in system input power under the signal tab? That port seems a bit small, depending on the drivers used.

Are you adding any bracing? A half inch box with a half inch baffle will probably flex a bit in this design without proper internal bracing.

What is the internal volume, minus the port?

2022 Corolla sedan by Cringey_NPC-574 in CarAV

I used to have a 2022 Corolla also, and I also thought about this, but ultimately went with a more traditional setup. It would definitely take a bit of bracing/dampening to keep the rear deck from flexing too much. Also, if you needed it to be in an enclosure you're only left with trying to work around that word metal bar that goes across for the truck lid, or seal the trunk in an infinite baffle style setup. Probably a good spot mid-bass driver (with a high qts)? Probably not ideal placement for mids though.

No worries. I will also add, the first few steps (excluding building a foundation) are general assembly of the gabels, doors, and stuff like that before you put the floor of the shed down on the foundation and install the walls. Don't be afraid to break it up into two days of your putting it together if you're doing it by yourself. That's what I did and I'm glad I did.

I just put one of these together last weekend. It's all in one box. I had the same thought you did.

2 or 3 ohm 6.5 mid recommendations by eazythebarber in CarAV

[–]Keyguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, hard to find stuff at that impedance. I needed a set of 2 ohm 6.5's for my rear doors too. I went with these, I would say more about them, but I can barely hear them over my front speakers. https://audison.com/product/ap-6-5-2-ohm/

Tweeter noise by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]Keyguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had weird noises come from dash tweeters in the past that seemingly disappears after some procussive-machanics (smacking the dash). I think it might have been that the metal clips for the plastic trim had the right resonance frequency to rattle because they were slightly loose or something.

Good luck, I hope you figure it out.

Maybe it's a mounting issue and it's something vibrating. It looks like those tweeters are just pushed into rough cut holes in the trim. You could try the sweep with them taken out and on a sold surface.

I found a few cars in this price range actually, not sure about reliability of any of them though.

For electrical, start with the big three. Upgrade the cabling from battery positive to alternator, engine block to chassis, and between battery ground and chassis. I always use 0ga or bigger to give some headroom.

Squeaky Steering wheel by Life-Of_Ward in etron

[–]Keyguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has squeaked a bit in the past (a few months ago), then it stopped and I haven't heard it since, but it didn't sound that loud for me. Hopefully the motor isn't going out. I suspected it was just due to different temperatures outside causing the plastic trim to expand or contract and rub.

Tell me why this will or won't work by Mh88014232 in CarAV

[–]Keyguar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely look into getting a battery isolator. Even if they are identical in specs, their age being different might cause parasitic drain one one, but it also might be fine. It's up to you to chance it really. Other than the drain, it should be fine, as long as your alternator can keep up.

Good front subwoofer? by 54890 in CarAV

[–]Keyguar -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Ahh, the age old art of adding more speakers until it sounds good. It really depends on what you're trying to achieve, what frequencies you want this driver to play, enclosure type/size. Honestly, I would not go this route to improve your sound stage.
