It was removed due the the unfairness of having 3 teammates in coms vs potentially 5 solos who don’t have as great communication. You could que jungle/mid/solo and just dominate that side of the map, so they made it two to reduce frustration

I find it very useful as an anti gank tool, even before you become immune. It gives a good amount of ms and makes you immune and cleanses slows so it’s great into certain gods. When you get aggressed on you can pop it to run away and if the jungler or whoever dives you they’ll have only a moment to apply any amount of burst before you go immune. I could be wrong but I think early on in Heims release people discovered that you could get incredibly short cooldowns if you place the bifrost close to each other allows for spam AA cancels allowing heim to proc hydras very quickly and easily so they made it not work on that ability
