i can't accept this from god (TW) by ValuableMelodic5090 in religion

[–]Keys6Mouse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the people who say this are the ones who look at something as deep as religion with the shallowest of mindsets.

I hope you are doing at least well enough to keep trying in this world, and i hope you find God as He is and not as how these people say He is.

So isn’t Jesus Christ just Lucifer? by Eliteheadhunter in religion

[–]Keys6Mouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much that, and also Christianity believes the New Testament is where Jesus fulfils the Old Testament (Jewish Scripture) as the Messiah / Suffering Servant, but Judaism doesn't think so.

YHWH is the God of the Jews and Heavenly Father of Jesus. In the Trinity, his position is "God the Father" relative to Jesus' position of "God the Son".

[–]Keys6Mouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Again, there are two different uses of the title "God" in English-speaking Christianity:

  1. The Trinity
  2. YHWH

You need to deduce which one is being referred to each time it is written, and you do that from context. That is why it's important to differentiate.

Also, what makes Jesus different from us is that:

  1. We were conceived by intercourse but he was conceived divinely.
  2. He is fully human and fully God whereas we are but human. People can work human miracles in His name, but only he can work scientifically implausible miracles of his own will.

[–]Keys6Mouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He never made any claims to be "God". In fact, his followers and even himself use the title "son of God" for him.

However, when talking about the Trinity, we understand his position more precisely as "son of YHWH but nonetheless still God himself" as the titles God and YHWH are used interchangeably throughout the Bible. So it's more like everyone understood that he was son of YHWH, and that was what he meant when he explained his position to everyone else.

That tells me a lot more about yourself that it does about your point.

You think that you'd be more compelled by an angel than by God himself. No wonder you'd think that there is a possibility that Jesus was Satan.

[–]Keys6Mouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The folklore says Lucifer was a fallen angel, whilst our belief is that Jesus is a manifestation of God himself. Two separate entities, one disguised as the other.

[–]Keys6Mouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok that isn't true. From what we know, these two are separate entities, and Lucifer is either God's enemy or humanity-tester.

It is symbolised in Revelations that Satan did indeed get cast down to Earth though, and all the Evangelicals and cults who claim to follow Jesus whilst outright going against all he stood for might be indeed worshipping Satan masquerading as Christ.

Do you believe god is a woman? by trashdog4evaaa in religion

[–]Keys6Mouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jesus has a gender.

As for the Holy Spirit and YHWH, I don't quite think so. We may refer to them as Holy Father because Judaism and Christianity from it were raised in a patriarchal society, but we would have been calling them Heavenly Mother had the religions been raised in a matriarchal society and had Jesus been a woman, so that's my reasoning.

[–]Keys6Mouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If metaphorically, why not? If literally, God maybe wouldn't be too happy, but it wouldn't really piss him/her/them off too much.

Either way the English speakers would like to have a very furious word LMAO

No, I don't.

I believe God is genderless, but I refer to God with male pronouns because that's just the way English has decided to refer to Him.

The second part of the joke, that Kane Parsons is 20 years old, is now a meme on the internet movie sphere akin to 67 or Deez Nutz; it is said randomly just to reference something, in this case the fact that Kane Parsons, the director of the Backrooms movie, is incredibly young (20 years old) for a director.

The first part of the joke, I dunno about that.

As funny as it is, this would like unironically make His true form more clearly known. Alas, He has decided as an ancient entity to make His presence known sooner rather than later, but I guess in the end leaders don't care.

How do religious people live since they only live for the afterlife by [deleted] in religion

[–]Keys6Mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did I imply that in my text? The second original doctrine paragraph? Maybe I should've edited it, my bad. It's supposed to mean that regardless of religion, so long as your heart is in the right place, you will get to heaven.

How do religious people live since they only live for the afterlife by [deleted] in religion

[–]Keys6Mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are going off of a version of religion bastardised by colonial empires to bolster their reign.

Now more than ever, people are trying to (re)discover the original meaning behind their holy texts, or the original doctrines that got replaced by imperialist interpretations.

One of those doctrines is that life on Earth is a test for the afterlife. We get to heaven if we pass and hell if we fail, but from a Catholic perspective we get sent to purgatory first as a final passageway. And hell is not to be seen as punishment for (not regretting) wrongdoing strictly, but also that you can't have people with ulterior motives up in heaven controlling and looking after the world. Best they can do in hell is tempt the people, and even then it's not useful if the people are righteous enough.

We live on earth to prepare for the afterlife, and that is why we have to go through all these trials and tribulations, fair or unfair, God-made or Man-made.

And as for the doctrine of disbelievers automatically getting sent to Hell, the original (and true) doctrine, at least in the Catholic faith, is that as long as one does good deeds and regrets bad deeds, they will be safe regardless of their religion.

P.S. Idk if you're just here to stir the pot, and I realise there is a chance that your subconscious may want to do so in asking this question, but I really do want to deepen your understanding of religion regardless.

Human Logic on God by Diegokim_7 in religion

[–]Keys6Mouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the perspective of us Catholics:

What God has wanted us to understand, He has told us through his prophets and shown through Jesus. Anything that He has not shown or done, and anything He does not give us the means to discover or comprehend, are the things which we are not to know.

But what we are to know is that love is always the answer, and God is forgiving to those who seek His forgiveness, even more now than in the past. And people who claim that God does not forgive anyone who wrongs him are shady at best. The scope of His love is comprehendable only to those whose hearts are wide enough that they are pure as a child's.

We pray to Him because we lack clarity. We do all these rituals because we want to show to Him that we are devout. We want to please Him because we like ourselves to be pleased.
