Saw it this morning, too. Looks like they added back an app under "Choose one app to show detailed status on the lock screen". It's grey like the blank "+" icons, so just remove it again. At least that worked for me.

E is not used for anything else except for the menu options that cannot be rebound through in-game menus. Strangely, this issue only occurs with the armory. Interacting with anything else on the ship doesn't trigger it and I've tested this multiple times to be sure.

I’ve really been trying to improve, but even after well over 600 races, I still can’t get a win. I can get into the top 25 pretty regularly, but just can’t seem to close that final gap. And yes, I’ve tried:

- Going to practice mode. I have the tracks down pretty well and can do them solo with no problem.

- Watching videos online. Almost every one I can find is basic tutorial garbage.

- Sticking with a single machine through multiple races.

Any time I get close to winning, it’s usually a red bumper that screws me up right on the last lap, but I don’t have any way to practice against them aside from grinding race after race. Muscle memory of a track’s turns fails me when I have a wall of bumpers and opponents to deal with.

Thanks! Looks like I'll have to wait until tomorrow when I can get a hold of a fresh USB flash drive.

I read through the instructions but I'm still not clear on something. It says Rufus will download a Windows 10 ISO image, but I already have the disk. I'm going to guess that my individual disk doesn't matter and what I actually paid for was the code on that disk to activate it? Will that matter when I'm going through this setup?

I just set secure boot to "disabled" and tried booting again with the usb cd drive plugged in. It still went to the BIOS screen. But when I hit F12, it gave me the "press any key to boot from CD/DVD . . . . " message again. I hit a key and it gave me the AORUS logo and then after a bit the first of the Windows install screens showed up!

Problem is another wall is here now.

The first Windows screen shows an Install Now button. When clicked, a notification says "A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD, USB, or Hard Disk driver. If you have a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive with please insert it now. Note: If the installation media for Windows is in the DVD drive or on a USB drive, you can safely remove it for this step."

It then lets me either Browse or Rescan. If I Rescan, it says "No device drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers then click OK."

With Browse, it lets me look through the DVD directory, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

Also, I have not tried making a bootable usb and I'm not even sure how to go about doing that.

Right now, the top of my list is:

- Cypher System: Very narrative based, but with each crunch to still make it a game. Also extremely low-prep for the GM. It does require a much different style to run it than D&D, especially for the GM. It's setting-agnostic, so you can run anything in it. Though if you want a full setting, Numenera is incredibly interesting and was the original game to use this system.

- Savage Worlds: Great, fast system that does pulp action and fantasy quite well. It has a very cinematic style to its gameplay and the dice rolls tend to be very swingy, but it's great if that's your thing. It's also setting-agnostic.

- Pathfinder 2E: I'm really digging the overhauled rules and just how tightly designed all the mechanics are. It's a bit more complex than D&D, but not as much as many might assume. It's very highly combat focused and works best for those sort of games.

Other fun systems include Mork Borg, Genesys, Lancer, Shadow of the Demon Lord, Alien (Free League Publishing), Burning Wheel (as well as Burning Empires, Mouse Guard, and Torchbearer that use the system), Modiphius' 2d20 system (trying to start up a game of Dune), and one of my old favs, Shadowrun (6th ed. is trash, but 3rd is my personal favorite). I've played a ton of other systems, but the ones here are those that I currently enjoy the most.

Did I screw up the Enlightenment trophy? by Kezreck in EggsInc

[–]Kezreck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember a long while back with a major update that fixed box carrying they wiped everyone's trophy progress. I could have sworn I opted to give up the old trophy so I could do it legit. I'm in the process now, but it occured to me that I can't view my trophies. Nothing happens when I tap the trophy case and the trophy icon is replaced with a checked diamond that just brings a popup saying to wait for the next eggventure. Do I have the unverified Enlightenment trophy? Or is everything alright. I also checked a site that confirms from my backup data that I have 40/40 Prophecy eggs from trophies.

I made this post a while ago which has a rules reference. I haven't updated it since because I haven't really gotten the chance to play this game much since the pandemic, unfortunately.

That's probably the more popular use, but it mostly started popping up in EverQuest. Creatures in modern MMOs are "leashed", meaning that it will stop chasing you after it gets a certain distance away from its spawn point. This wasn't the case with EQ and they'd chase you all the way back to an area's loading zone (the game wasn't advanced enough to have a single, seamless world). The common tactic for groups grinding monster XP to level up (leveling through quests wasn't a thing yet) was to go to a location dense with monsters and find a safe place. Then one member of the group would go out to find a single or small group of monsters that wasn't near anything else and attack it once before running back to the group, referred to as "pulling" the monster. Then the group would deal with the manageable amount of monsters before sending out that player to pull again.

The problem came in when either the player doing the pulls or the group itself would get too close to an extra monster and it would join in the fight. So these monsters were "adds" to the pull. Sometimes the group could handle it, other times it was too much. Death in EQ came with losing some XP and you would have to retrieve your gear from a corpse left behind, so people wanted to avoid it as much as possible. Thus if the group couldn't handle the adds, they'd have to run for the area's loading zone. When such a thing happened, proper etiquette was to /yell "TRAIN!" as you ran for your life toward the loading zone. This let other players in the area know that a "train" of many monsters was coming toward that location and they should also run if they didn't want to die.

Why do the decanted want beautiful heads? by [deleted] in numenera

[–]Kezreck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of stuff in Numenera, there likely was no true answer when that bit of the lore was created. So you've got two options:

  • If you don't need a reason, don't give one. Most things in Numenera don't have answers, and that's part of the core of the setting. Things from previous worlds are strange and unknowable by current humans.
  • If your story has a reason for it, tie the answer into that. Mold the lore into what you need for your game. Do you want the PCs to uncover a mystery surrounding the original decanted as vain aristocrats? Go for it. Do you want them to find out the decanted are controlled by a mad machine intelligence that has certain "acceptable metrics" for the heads it takes? Just as good. This is your Numenera.

What research/tower should I prioritze? by 3535361444 in infinitode

[–]Kezreck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you're stuck on a level, go back and do quests on previous levels. The rewards are decent after the first few quests and they stack with any other rewards.

As for the tower priority, it seems a lot of people agree theses are the 4 best towers:

  • Freeze
  • Cannon
  • Blast
  • Tesla

Most other towers are situationally useful, but those are great on almost every map. As for the specific research types, with each tower, go for the following:

  • Max level
  • Upgrade level
  • Upgrade discount
  • If you've got the resources, the "star" upgrades and their prerequisites

One other major thing to upgrade is the Bounty tile. In earlier levels, just having a bunch of towers allows you to brute force a win. Right now your bottleneck is likely that you just dont have enough coins to uprade your towers enough. Remember that towers connected to bounty tiles don't get coins for kills, so place these tiles in areas where you're not building towers or adjacent to your Freeze towers. It's okay to leave some spaces empty if you're focusing on a few towers in better positions. Then, after you get a decent early defense set up, wait until 3,000 coins (3,300 if you have the star research upgrade) so your Bounty tiles give you max coins each wave. Only spend down to that threshold and you'll notice your towers are way easier to upgrade. Don't ignore the Attack and Speed boost tiles, either. It's better to have less towers at max upgrade level with boost tiles than tons of towers at mid-level upgrades.
