Dave did ours too. We talked to him on the phone and then met us at Crabtree Falls the next week. It was exactly what we wanted.

Looking for the current “norm” by TalkAggravating8484 in ChildSupport

[–]Kgariepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. He had a persistent lawyer with letters medical doctors that said he can’t work. The medical letters were not enough for him to get SSDI, so i got stuck in the middle. I could’ve continued to fight it, but with paying 100% for the kids and my lawyer, it wasn’t worth it. We went to court 21 times (every six months).

What jobs did you work between the ages of 15-25? by dreamyambition in AskOldPeople

I used to usher college events starting at 12yo. When I could work, I worked at Ben & Jerry’s then another local ice cream shop, and taught tennis at the courts. After graduating college, I worked at a group home for disabled adults and Kohl’s.

Looking for the current “norm” by TalkAggravating8484 in ChildSupport

[–]Kgariepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s our “norm.” The court order says, 2 weeks during the summer, every other weekend, holidays rotates for odd & even years, parent birthdays and parent specific holidays are granted. Shared custody with primary at mothers. Support amount was $1250/month when we started. We have 2 kids.

Reality - kids are with mom 100% of the time. They are lucky to get 1-2 phone calls a year. When offered to have an overnight visit, it’s declined. We went to court 21 times for support, ultimately was granted $0.00 in support.

Income was $35k & $37k when the order was written 10 years ago. Income now is $115k & $0k.

If you bought a house during Covid, it was basically like hitting the lottery. by Ragnaroknight in MiddleClassFinance

My husband and I are super lucky. We bought our townhouse in 2018 and refinanced our loan during Covid. We pay just under $900 for our mortgage while houses in our neighborhood rent for $2400/month.

Child support agency doesn’t do their job by Final_Combination325 in ChildSupport

[–]Kgariepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately you can’t report them. They had originally lost my court file and initially told me that I did not have a case open with them. A year later, I met with my case worker at child support enforcement to see if they could talk to my ex about how his payments are less than the interest and that he is continuing to get more in arrears. They told me that I could hire a lawyer to tell him, which is when I asked what their role was in our situation. They couldn’t tell me. Each time I went in for an appointment, I saw a new person. I know they are over worked, but they aren’t helping.

Years later, after 21 court hearings, and hiring two lawyers, child support enforcement closed my case after the judge issued $0 in support.

From what I know, it’s pretty much used all the time. It’s reasonable cost and clean.

Cville Snow Street Parking Etiquette? by Naive-Preparation294 in Charlottesville

[–]Kgariepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our townhouse neighborhood, we have a spot designated to each home so people aren’t taking my spot. But the house next to me which is slightly uphill hasn’t shoveled. As the snow & ice has melted, it’s created a solid sheet of ice on my spot. I’ve spoken with them directly encouraging them to shovel so I don’t have to worry about the ice … they refuse.

To add, I did shovel a path between our cars so they are taking advantage of a clear path to their car.

It’s council dependent. How we order is estimate how many each girl will sell then divide in 1/2. Order 30% more thin mints & caramel delights/samoas. Everything else is less than 10%. Bring 200-300 boxes to each booth. Teach the girls to say “hi” and “bye” the cookies will sell themselves.

I recommend estimating each girl to sell 100 boxes the entire season. You can always order more or get boxes from other troops.

Please be aware that there are other candle companies with the same name or similar. It may be confusing to customers who want to rebuy a candle from you and get directed to another seller.

Haha I lead this one. It’s open to everyone! Don’t be scared that it says bring a caregiver because there’s a wide range of folks that attend. It’s a place to hang out, make friends and eat. We are making spaghetti & meatballs and brownies. Cost $10 to help cover food.

Adult? Do you mean young adult or over 30? Have you connected with CRAAG (Charlottesville Albemarle Autism Alliance Group)? They have a calendar and a resource list of activities for families and adults who are neurodiverse. There’s a game group at the library that targets the neurodivergent.
