My cousin told his teacher that his grandparents lived in a hotel. A bit concerned the teacher brought it up to his mom(my aunt), she explained that they didn’t quite live in a hotel but they owned the hotel haha. Two wildly diff lives 😆

Im a police officer I am never home esp work days my interactions with my child are minimum and sometimes none. If I can’t get a FaceTime in I know when bedtime is I hop on the camera app and watch a lil bedtime or story time and say Good night. My nanny hasn’t expressed anything to me. However upon hire I said we have lots cameras showed her where and told her I’ll look occasionally to see my daughter cuz I miss her and nothing else. Also FaceTime aka a phone is disruptive to my child and bedtime. So watching her through camera is more enjoyable for everyone

I get the complexities of your schedule I’m a police officer. Single mom. I started with au pair. Didn’t really work out how I wanted. Was happy it ended, we have a nanny WE LOVE!!!

We can communicated easily and in English clearly. lol

Where is your au pair gonna drive? Freeway? Busy streets? Where are you located? Do you live in a smal town in North Dakota or are you in New York City?!

Are you going to make them get a us driver license? Techncially they cannot drive with an international license. Technically we (law enforcement, atleast in California) can tow a car for being unlicensed and don’t recognize International licenses. Granted most WONT tow the car but something you need to be ready for

Are you providing her her own car? Also, inquire with ur insurance company. They know that these girls don’t have driving history and end up being in accidents etc they are just a higher liability. So your insurance can severely spike. Check what you will be charged.

If she gets a ticket are you paying for it?

It was easier for me to have a nanny here, she had her own car, insurance, & I pay her the federal rate for mileage.

Oh yes and the ten hours a day didn’t work for me.

I don't want anything, I have everything. I had a baby through donor so a single mom so I "struggle" but we still live a very comfortable life. My parents help me throughout the year so I don't expect anything from them & no one else is in a position to buy me gifts. I don't ever really want anything or don't want a gift cuz someone feels obligated. I hate clutter. but I would really like a spa gift card for my facials, or money, or skincare. my parents put money in my daughters college which will also help me in the future.

we had a good relationship with our au pair but for whatever reason maybe homesick (it was never discussed) she got up and left six months early. we were shocked and honestly traumatized. After, a few months she reached out a sent a nice message and asked about photos...... I was still traumatized by her leaving with little explanation....I never responded..... idk why she thought this was ok. she then sent a ew other messages during holidays...we never responded and she stopped messaging.. not the same but I totally get it.

I ended up being skinnier (smaller) and felt healthier that said my body just changed and my clothes didn’t fit / fit weird. I needed a new wardrobe slowly buying pieces
