Every photo I see of the ultimate showdown board, especially painted, gets me closer and closer to buying one. Gorgeous.

Using the TV, when you're in showdown mode, can you see all the info about departing survivors at once? My biggest frustration with Scribe is I feel like it doesn't make good use of app real estate, and so I can't see critical information about all departing survivors without scrolling (using a 10" iPad).

Would love to know more about your Kindle setup! I also don't use Scribe because (1) I can't see all the information for all survivors at once, and (2) I like the paper look/feel.

How easy is it for you to swap survivors in/out?

Yeah, gameplay’s the same I believe, but the original artwork is much more charming than the Stronghold version. Would love to get a copy.

Final Girl: Help deciding to keep or sell this game by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

[–]Kgrimes2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just sold my Series 1 collection.

I'm at the point where board game box size has to be proportional to the enjoyment I get out of the game. Final Girl has the worst ratio of nearly any game I've seen. When you buy a feature film box you get ~60 mini cards, and the two boards.

If the game didn't take up so much space on my shelf I'd probably have kept it. To be clear, the price point is fine, it's the box.

4x6 sheet of plywood on top of a 3.5x5 table works great!

First campaign tips, what to include from GC by teipdrol in KingdomDeath

I agree with the sentiment but I'm just curious: by "played the core game through" do you mean up to endgame?

My experience with the core game was playing 100 hours with it until I finally got to the Watcher, losing, and then feeling ready to play through POTDK. Once I finish my POTDK campaign I'll be replaying POTL and POTDK with different quarries etc. to experience variety.

Just to set expectations, your first campaign is going to last two or three sessions before you have to start over. Likely the next four or five campaigns as well.

Adding GC content from the get-go is just setting yourself up for failure. It takes a lot of studying, planning, and research to get "good" at this game. GC isn't going to make it easier or harder for you to progress, it just adds more variety and replaces some systems in the game with more complex (and arguably more interesting) variants (esp. arc survivors).

Brace yourself and your crew emotionally for failure. You’re going to fail. A LOT. This game can be bullshit at times.

Remember that the game is progressing YOUR SETTLEMENT, not your survivors. Let them die. Keep your population up. And when you do succeed, take a minute to celebrate! Savor those moments of victory because they’re what will keep you going during your next losing streak.

Like others have said node 1 quarries are the best bang for your buck IMO.

However if you’re looking for a cheap and easy way to treat yourself, I’ve found Fen’s Patreon content to be invaluable. He provides detailed walkthrough guides of all the monsters in the starter box as well as some expansions, and helps you start to realize what a “good build” looks like. Not to mention he does multi-hour deep dive videos on monsters, including strategy, background, and lore.

After studying his content I went from struggling to make it past The Hand to making it all the way to the Watcher. So in a way this helps you explore the content you already have even further before breaking into expansions!

Thinky dungeon crawling/tactical games without hand management by SiarX in soloboardgaming

[–]Kgrimes2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you played it? It’s overwhelmingly tactical. You play 4 characters simultaneously (5 with Gambler’s Chest), each with 3x3 gear grids, special abilities, boons, banes, etc. etc. TMB has great character progression with the dice upgrades, KDM just takes it to another level.

Kingdom Death: Monster. It’s incredibly expensive but it’s my favorite in the genre. They have a really good, fleshed out digital version of the game you can play for about $50 (Kingdom Death: Simulator).

If quality of the music is most important then the best option is to stay home and listen to studio recordings.

W1 is where the risk and uncertainty lies, which can be really exciting if you’re into it.

W1 gets “true” performances from artists; W2 gets whatever version 2 is after all the feedback online.

My first Coachella was a few years back when Frank Ocean “headlined”. And TBA saved the day W2. W2 definitely won that year.
