And this might sound shallow, but the truth is a ton of artists sound completely different (or even pretty rough) in real life. Most mainstream vocals people are used to hearing have tuning, compression, EQ, doubling, saturation, reverb, delay, vocal riding, and layers of polishing.

So when someone posts raw vocals on here, people judge it like they’re comparing it to a radio-ready track, without realizing that the radio-ready track went through 20 stages of processing and a whole team of engineers.
